VIZ Media Debuts New Shojo Manga Series Demon Love Spell

VIZ Media brings new shojo manga (graphic novel) fun to fans everywhere with the debut of Mayu Shinjo’s Demon Love Spell Vol. 1. The new series (now available) is published under the Shojo Beat imprint, rated ‘T+’ for Older Teens, and carries an MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. The series will also be available on December 18th for digital download from the VIZ Manga digital platform (MSRP $4.99 USD/CAN).

Miko is a shrine maiden who has never had much success at seeing or banishing spirits. Then she meets Kagura, a sexy demon who feeds off women’s feelings of passion and love. Kagura’s insatiable appetite has left many girls at school brokenhearted, so Miko casts a spell to seal his powers. Surprisingly the spell works – sort of – but now Kagura is after her!

Mayu Shinjo is the prolific creator of numerous acclaimed shojo manga, including the hit series, Sensual Phrase (published in North America by VIZ Media). Her current series include AI Ore! (also published by VIZ Media) and Ayakashi Koi Emaki. Weekly SJ Alpha Synchronizes with Japanese Releases

VIZ Media will synchronize its Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, a weekly serial anthology of some of the most popular manga series in the world, to Japan releases starting with the January 21, 2013 issue.

Weekly SJ Alpha, available exclusively on the VIZ Manga digital platform, will feature new installments of Bleach, Cross Manage, Naruto, Nisekoi, One Piece and Toriko on the same day as their general release in Japan. Monthly series such as Blue Exorcist, Rurouni Kenshin: Restoration and YU-GI-OH! Zexal will debut the closest Monday after the Japanese release. There are also plans for additional series to join the Weekly SJ Alpha lineup.

Weekly SJ Alpha is available through the VIZ Manga digital platform through an annual membership that provides 52 weeks of digital access to 48 weekly issues for just $25.99. Members also receive exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME promotional cards throughout the year, an annual collector’s yearbook and access to exclusive content, including creator interviews and exclusive videos.

VIZ Media Develops Monsuno Original Graphic Novel Series

VIZ Media continues to expand its library of original graphic novels as it announces the acquisition of the North American publishing rights for Monsuno, an epic boys action adventure where kids discover, command and battle creatures with destructive potential. A race to harness the power of Monsuno ensues between this group of heroic kids and the evil forces focused on destroying the planet. Monsuno will debut with a graphic novel, written by Brian Smith with artwork by Erwin Prasetya, delivering all new, original adventures beginning late Spring 2013 under the company’s VIZ Kids imprint. Monsuno Volume 1 is rated ‘A’ for All Ages, and will carry an MSRP of $7.99 U.S. / $9.99 CAN.

Like the animated series, the Monsuno graphic novels will follow Chase Suno and his friends as they search for Chase’s father and discover the power of Monsuno.
