The horrifying extent of Carnage’s bloodthirsty hunt for Miles Morales!

Miles Morales is about to swing into his darkest battle yet as he finds himself prey to the most terrifying villain in the Marvel Universe: Carnage! Original Carnage host Cletus Kasady is back and more powerful and bloodthirsty than ever before! And he has a score to settle with Miles—and with all of New York City! This visceral saga promises to be one of Miles’ most intense stories as Carnage forces the young hero to confront brutality he’s never experienced in his time as Spider-Man. Right now, fans can see what awaits in June including the finale one-shot, Carnage Reigns Omega #1.

In Red Goblin #5, Normie Osborn is the new Red Goblin, and he’s trying to escape his family legacy by proving himself as a hero. But when that eagerness puts him on a collision course with Carnage, Normie and his symbiote will emerge from this issue forever changed!

In Carnage #14, Cletus Kasady’s hunger has grown beyond limitation, and so has his ambition. With his soul trapped within the Extrembiote Armor created by Tony Stark during King in Black, Cletus has the means to level an untold amount of chaos on the entire Marvel Universe, and he may just leave a certain wall-crawling hero dead in his wake.

In Miles Morales: Spider-Man #7, Cletus Kasady has unleashed maximum carnage upon New York City with the awesome power of his new Extrembiote, and the only one left standing in his way is Miles Morales, who may have stumbled upon Cletus’ one weakness – which means Cletus will stop at nothing to put Miles down for good. To have a chance at stopping him, Miles will need help from the most unexpected allies…Cletus got an upgrade – why can’t Miles?!

And in Carnage Reigns Omega #1, Cletus Kasady finally gets what he’s been after and unlocks new and terrifying possibilities with his Extrembiote armor, setting the stage for the next VENOM epic! It’s Carnage vs. Miles Morales in Carnage Reigns!

Miles Morales is about to have a terrifying encounter with one of Spider-Man’s deadliest foes: CARNAGE!

As the “Summer of Symbiotes” continues to unleash across Marvel comics, “Carnage Reigns” will kick off this May in a giant-sized alpha one-shot before unfolding in both character’s respective ongoing solo titles. Crafted by guest Carnage writer Alex Paknadel and current Miles Morales: Spider-Man writer Cody Ziglar, this visceral saga promises to be one of Miles’ most intense clashes as Carnages forces the young hero to confront brutality he’s never experienced in his time as Spider-Man. Readers of both series will see the story build on current plot developments including Carnage’s extreme transformation and the tolls Miles’ super hero career have taken on his personal life. The seven-part crossover will also tie into an upcoming issue of Alex Paknadel and Jan Bazaldua‘s Red Goblin series and wrap up in June’s Carnage Reigns: Omega #1. It will feature art by an all-star lineup of talent, including Julius Ohta as well as Miles Morales: Spider-Man and Carnage’s regular artists, Federico Vicentini and Francesco Manna. 

Cletus Kasady is back and badder than ever. Review: Alien #1

Overall, the Alien/Predator franchise is one of my favorites. I haven’t read every comic or book but I generally enjoy diving into the world. Like the xenomorph themselves, the stories can take on so many different genres, from sci-fi to horror to straight up action to even westerns. Alien #1 kicks off a new chapter this time focusing on synths, something that feels rather fresh and new to me.

Written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Alien #1 delivers a basic premise that seems to be a running theme in the franchise, don’t trust corporations. Opening up with a disaster, the story eventually shifts to a group of synths who are being called into action. They’re needed for a dangerous mission where radiation and xenomorphs would kill anyone else. Should they take up the mission, synths would be granted citizenship if they choose. Now, do you trust the offer? The answer is obviously no if you’re familiar with the world but as usual, the smart decision wouldn’t make for an interesting read.

Alien #1 is interesting in that it’s giving us something a little different. As I said in the start, I haven’t read everything but beyond the films, synths aren’t something I remember reading a lot about. It’s a rather big unknown to me as a reader and that makes the series all the more exciting. Instead of expendable humans, we get beings who should give the xenomorphs a run for their money. Add on top that they should throw off their usual cycle of death and reproduction, it could come together for a familiar but new take.

The art by Julius Ohta is solid. With color by Yen Nitro and lettering by Clayton Cowles, the comic delivers a mix of horror and some superheroics. That latter aspect isn’t something I thought I’d see in the franchise but due to the abilities of the synth, there’s moves that are more superhero than soldier. Throw on some spandex or a cape and the movement and visuals are there. It’ll be interesting to see if the series as a whole moves into that genre a bit with this latest story arc.

Alien #1 is an intriguing start. It focuses on an aspect of the world that often feels like a story shoved to the side and dips its toes into a genre I haven’t see the world play in before. There’s a lot here that long time fans and new readers in what could be something really new for the franchise.
