Friedman’s work has redefined the concept of “healthy sexuality” and popularized the “yes means yes” standard of sexual consent that is quickly becoming law on many US campuses.

She’s written multiple books, and is a popular speaker on campuses and at conferences across the U.S. and beyond. She has appeared as a guest on PBS News Hour, MSNBC’s the Melissa Harris-Perry Show, the BBC and numerous other radio and television shows, and her commentary has appeared in outlets including CNN, Time, The Washington Post, The Nation, Jezebel and The Huffington Post.

Friedman is a founder and the former Executive Director of Women, Action & the Media, where she led the successful #FBrape campaign to apply Facebook’s hate-speech ban to content that promotes gender-based violence. She is also a charter member of CounterQuo, a coalition dedicated to challenging the ways we respond to sexual violence. Friedman holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College.

Sarah was a full-time advocate and case manager in domestic violence shelters for over a decade; she’s currently the Media Co-Coordinator for The Doula Project, a volunteer-run New-York based organization that provides free compassionate care to people across the spectrum of pregnancy, including birth, miscarriage, and abortion.

Elle is a writer and podcaster from the Appalachian region. Elle hosts Into It, a podcast about positivity and pop culture, as well as co-hosting the upcoming Hard Times Podcast, a queer feminist podcast about professional wrestling. Elle is a contributor at ComicsAlliance.com, as well as a staff member of Switchback Books, a feminist poetry press.

Janine holds a BA in film studies and creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College and an MA in Media Studies from the New School. In addition to a day job that utilizes neither of these degrees she is co-founder and event host for the Green Mountain Gore Society, a cult, horror, and B-movie appreciation community in Burlington, VT.
