Fist of the North Star Vol. 12 has its moments but overall is the weakest of the releases so far

As the years have passed, peace has come to the wasteland. But it is an unjust peace, one kept in place by the brutality of a powerful empire. Rin and Bat, having finally reunited with Kenshiro, are now freedom fighters. Along with a bounty hunter named Ein, the group faces new enemies–Falco the Golden Wolf and the cruel warlord Jako, who serve the mysterious Tentei. Falco and Jako may have whole armies at their beck and call, but they’ve never come up against the likes of Kenshiro and Hokuto Shinken before…

Fist of the North Star Vol. 11 kicks off the next exciting story

Years after the fall of Raoh, Kenshiro has disappeared, and Rin and Bat have grown to young adulthood. Attempting to honor Ken’s legacy, they wander the wasteland defending the defenseless. Kenshiro himself now seeks only peace, hiding himself away in an isolated settlement. Tormented by the memories of those he has lost, he tries to give up the way of the fist. But the forces of chaos are always on the horizon, and Kenshiro will have to once again embrace his fate as the successor of Hokuto Shinken

In the eighth volume, Kenshiro takes on Holy Emperor Souther, the most powerful of the Six Holy Fists of the South Star. If Kenshiro defeats him, it will set up a fateful battle between Raoh and Toki.

It’s quite the utopia in The Lost Gardens
