In the upcoming second season of Pennyworth, the DC drama series that follows Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon) in 1960s London where he works with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), it will be discovered that Martha Kane (Emma Paetz) is…pregnant!
During the Pennyworth panel at DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse on Saturday, September 12, executive producer Bruno Heller shared the happy unexpected news with the parents-to-be-by-acting-proxy Emma Paetz and Ben Aldridge. (It was previously revealed during the DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes event on August 22 that DC character Lucius Fox would be joining the series in season two.)
In addition to Bannon, Aldridge, and Paetz, Pennyworth season two features the return of stars Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson and Polly Walker, with multi-award-winning recording artist Paloma Faith and Jason Flemyng. Earlier this year, it was announced that James Purefoy (The Following, Sex Education, Altered Carbon), Edward Hogg (Taboo, Harlots, White Lightning), Jessye Romeo (Curfew, In the Long Run), Ramon Tikaram (Brassic, The Victim) and Harriet Slater (Faunutland and the Lost Magic) would be joining the cast as series regulars.
Based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, Pennyworth was developed by Bruno Heller, who executive produces with Danny Cannon and Matthew Patnick. The series airs on EPIX in the U.S.
Pennyworth is a ten-episode, one-hour drama based on the DC Comics‘ character Alfred Pennyworth created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.
It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London.
Jack Bannon has been cast in the lead role of Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming EPIX drama series Pennyworth, from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and based on the characters from DC Comics.
The 10-episode, one-hour drama series is based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne, who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London.
Alfred Pennyworth is a boyishly handsome, cheerful, charming, clever young man from London. Honest, open-faced and witty; you’d never take him for an SAS killer. Alfred doesn’t know how to reconcile the kind-hearted boy he used to be with the cold, calculated killer he was forced to become. He’s a man on the make, who doesn’t know what to make of himself yet.
Production on the series will begin Monday, October 22, 2018, at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK.
Bannon previously appeared in The Imitation Game and Ripper Street.
Pennyworth is from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller and executive producer/director Danny Cannon.
