Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead delivers a Murderer’s Row of Writers, Artists, and Grisly Killers

The upcoming all-star anthology comic Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead will unveil the terrifying origins of the grisly killers from bestselling hit series Exquisite Corpses Season 1. The extra-length one-shot comic, hitting shelves in January 2027 from Image Comics and James Tynion IV’s production house Tiny Onion. It will feature a murderers’ row of writers and artists and follows the launch of three Exquisite Corpses spin-off miniseries, each about one of a trio of favorite killers from the bloody first season (Rascal Randy, Fox Mask Killer, and Lone Gunman).

Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead features stories written not only by series co-creators, Eisner award-winning horror masterminds James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh, but also by Jordie Bellaire, Marguerite Bennett, Patrick Horvath, Alyssa Wong, Steve Orlando, Josh Trujillo, Soo Lee, Victor Lavalle, and Losty. 

The top-tier writers will be joined by popular artists David Lafuente, Piotr Kowalski, Lauren Knight, Claire Roe, Alexandre Tefenkgi, Lisandro Estherren, Brian Level, Francesca Ciregia, and Ryan Quackenbush.

The issue will also feature a darkly gorgeous main cover and surprise polybagged variant by Walsh as well as variant covers by A-list artists such as Brian Level, Ito, Federico Mele, and Tula Lotay. The polybagged variant will have a collectible trading card tied to Exquisite Corpses: The Game.

Now readers will discover the backstories of the other infamous assassins while also getting a scary sneak peek at one of the new killers from the upcoming Season 2. 

In the first season of Exquisite Corpses, twelve of the deadliest killers in the world entered Oak Valley on Halloween night. But only one would survive to see the dawn. For the rest, their stories ended in decapitation, conflagration, or even more ignoble defeats. But now, thanks to overwhelming demand, creators from across the horror spectrum have assembled to reveal the never-before-seen origins of Exquisite Corpses’ cast of assassins, mercenaries, and madmen! Discover the Congregation’s unholy mission, the spark behind Layla Blaze’s scars, Lady Carolina’s first hunt, and more in this extra-sized, blood-soaked issue.

The 80-page Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead ($9.99) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, January 13.

Skybound, Image Comics, Hasbro, and Crystal Dynamics have shared a first look at covers and interior pages from G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #2. From the creative team of writer Kyle Higgins, artist Elena Casagrande, colorist Alex Guimarães, and letterer Pat Brosseau, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #2 will be available in comic shops on November 4, 2026.

Jean Grey’s next chapter begins in flames.

Following the shocking events of DNX, Jean returns to the X-Men this November, headlining an all-new Jean Grey limited series by Jed MacKay and Rogê Antônio and kicking off a new era of MacKay’s run on X-Men. Fans can get their first look at Jean Grey #1 with all five covers and a never-before-seen lettered preview that will also be featured in the back of select new Marvel releases early next month.

The preview begins with a flashback to Jean’s early days with the X-Men as Professor X prepares his protégé for the extraordinary power she would one day wield. Then, it shifts to the present, as Jean makes her explosive return to Earth, with the full force of the Phoenix at her command. What she’ll find is a world dramatically changed and a team that needs her more than ever.

NYCC 2026: The Countdown to Daredevil #700 Begins…

During his inaugural Bullpen Bulletins! Panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker welcomed hotshot writer Stephanie Phillips to join him to discuss her blockbuster current run of Daredevil!

Launched earlier this year as the record-breaking biggest debut issue in Daredevil history, the series continues to be one of the industry’s top selling titles. Captivated readers have followed the mystery of Omen and his growing threat to both Daredevil and Matt Murdock, and have seen Matt’s personal life take a turn as he adjusts to his new role as a professor at Empire State University. The stakes are about get even higher as Phillips and series artist Lee Garbett lead the series into its milestone 700th issue this March!

The road begins with the debut of Latch this January in Daredevil #11, featuring guest artist Emilio Laiso. A dangerous new player in Hell’s Kitchen, Latch is poised to turn Daredevil’s world upside down!

Readers looking to jump on board can pick up Daredevil Vol. 1: Tomorrow’s Devil, collecting the first five issues of the series, when it arrives in stores this December.

Skybound and Image Comics have shared a first look at Capes #12, from writer Benito Cereno, artist Mark Englert, colorist John Rauch, and letterer Rus Wooton. Capes #12 takes readers – and the heroes of Capes, Inc. – further into the most unexpected corner of the Invincible Universe. Capes #12 will hit comic book shops on October 28, 2026, bringing the current arc to its dramatic finale while opening the door to the next chapter of Capes.

Steve Skroce’s New Hit Superhero Series of the Year Continues in October with Tales of Wonder #2. Get a First Look

Skybound and Image Comics have revealed preview pages and the lineup of variant covers for Tales of Wonder #2, the second issue of the new limited series from creator/writer/artist Steve Skroce, colorist Ian Herring, and letterer Pat Brosseau. The action-packed Tales of Wonder #2 hits comic book shops on October 7, 2026. 

Holy crap! It’s AMERICA’S FREEDOM FORCE! But if Stu and Jake’s legendary comic book heroes are now in our world, where are the villains?

Tales of Wonder #2 will feature a main cover by Steve Skroce and Ian Herring, with a variant cover program including open to order cover by Ito, the second of three themed covers by Jorge Fornés, a 1:25 incentive variant by Ben Stenbeck, and a 1:50 incentive by Stefano Cardoselli.
