Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Earthdivers #1

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

3Keys #1 (Image Comics) – Inhabitants from another dimension fled into ours to save themselves from the Great Old Ones. Or are they helping us prepare for a final devastating invasion?

A.X.E.: Starfox #1 (Marvel) – This event tie-in focuses on Starfox, obviously, and we want to see where this character thrust in the spotlight goes.

A.X.E.: X-Men #1 (Marvel) – The X-Men get their one-shot turn as judgement is given to those of Earth.

By the Horns: Dark Earth #5 (Scout Comics) – The series has been consistently a favorite of ours with its mix of fantasy and tech and its heroes quest to try to restore magic and save their land.

Dark Ride #1 (Image Comics) – We got a tease of this in Skybound X and we’re excited to find out more about this twisted theme park.

Earthdivers #1 (IDW Publishing) – A group of outcast Indigenous survivors who have discovered a time travel portal and set off to kill Christopher Columbus before he reaches the “New World”.

Golden Rage #3 (Image Comics) – It’s a Battle Royale meets Lord of the Flies type series involving older women and it’s so good.

Gotham City: Year One #1 (DC Comics) – The origin of Gotham City!

The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #1 (DC Comics) – We were surprised by the first Joker series and we want to see where this one goes.

Kaya #1 (Image Comics) – After the destruction of their village, a young girl with a magic arm and a fighting spirit is tasked with delivering her little brother to a faraway safe haven.

Mind MGMT: Bootleg #4 (Dark Horse) – The series has been the mind twist we expected and wanted and love the fact it’s expanding it’s reach beyond comics.

Miracleman #0 (Marvel) – After a lot of false starts, it looks like we’re finally getting Miracleman from Marvel?

Revolvers #1 (Image Comics) – Hampton Wales, a Detroit homicide detective, finds himself trapped in a mysterious and violent reality, only to find himself dead while attempting to solve a seemingly average and routine homicide.

Savage Avengers #6 (Marvel) – This team book is one of the most fun Marvel has been putting out and will leave you guessing as to where it’s taking readers with each issue.

Spider-Man #1 (Marvel) – A big story for the “Spider-Verse” kicks off here and we’re expecting some big things out of this.

Victory Stand: Raising My Fist for Justice (Norton Young Readers) – Olympic medalist Tommie Smith looks back through his life to the iconic moment of protest during the Mexico City Olympics.

Gotham City: Year One #1 (of 6)

(W) Tom King (A) Eric Gapstur (A/CA) Phil Hester
In Shops: Oct 04, 2022
SRP: $4.99

There once was a shining city on the water, a home for families, hope, and prosperity. It was Gotham and it was glorious. The story of its fall from grace, the legend that would birth the Bat, has remained untold for 80 years. That’s about to change.
Superstar creators Tom King and Phil Hester team up for the first time to tell the definitive origin of Gotham City: how it became the cesspool of violence and corruption it is today, and how it harbored and then unleashed the sin that led to the rise of the Dark Knight. Two generations before Batman, private investigator Slam Bradley gets tangled in the “kidnapping of the century” as the infant Wayne heir disappears in the night…and so begins a brutal, hard-boiled, epic tale of a man living on the edge and a city about to burn.
