Chaosium Inc. has announced the upcoming Gamefound campaign for Call of Cthulhu: Old Ones Origins, an asymmetric strategy board game from Samuel W. Bailey, one of the designers of the Golden Geek-nominated Forbidden Stars.

Designed for 2–4 players, the game puts each player in command of a distinct faction devoted to one of the legendary deities of the Cthulhu Mythos. Each faction has its own powers and units, which players must use to outmaneuver their opponents and battle for cosmic supremacy.

Featured during Gamefound Summer Feast 2026, the game’s Gamefound page is now live. Fans can follow it for exclusive previews, updates, and future announcements.

Call of Cthulhu: Old Ones Origins is an enhanced reimplementation of Forbidden Stars, which was nominated for the 2015 Golden Geek awards for Best Strategy Board Game and Best Thematic Board Game. The original game challenged players to lead factions with different abilities and play styles while balancing immediate moves with long-term strategy.

Old Ones Origins brings that strategic foundation into the Cthulhu Mythos setting, where ancient powers clash at the dawn of time. Players must learn the strengths of their faction, adapt their plans, and outmaneuver their rivals to become the ultimate force among the Old Ones.

Middle-earth Enterprises.

Designed for fans of both immersive storytelling and strategic gameplay, The Lord of the Rings: Ascension invites players to step into a dynamic narrative shaped by their choices. Rather than simply retelling familiar tales, the game offers a branching experience where each decision carries weight, and no two journeys unfold the same way. Each of Tolkien’s three legendary volumes comes to life as its own standalone deckbuilding experience.

Set against the rich backdrop of Middle-earth, players will navigate evolving challenges, forge alliances, and confront the consequences of their actions across a living world inspired by Tolkien’s writings. Renegade Game Studios, in collaboration with Avalon Hill, is bringing Ikusa: Samurai Swords back to the table for the first time in over a decade with a deluxe 40th Anniversary Edition—exclusively launching on Gamefound this fall.

Known to many longtime fans as Shogun, Ikusa: Samurai Swords has been a staple of strategy gaming since its original release. Now, in honor of its 40th anniversary, Renegade is reviving the classic with all-new artwork, upgraded components, and premium production values—reimagining it as a true collector’s edition. As one of Avalon Hill’s most iconic strategy titles, this release reflects the studio’s continued focus on celebrating legacy games with premium, fan-first experiences.

In the game, players take on the role of rival warlords vying for control of feudal Japan. With armies and mercenaries at their command, each seeks to claim the ultimate title: Shogun. The 40th Anniversary Edition retains the core gameplay fans love while elevating the experience with refined visuals and deluxe components.

The Gamefound campaign will run from September 30 to October 30, offering fans exclusive access, behind-the-scenes content, sneak peeks at the components, and exciting giveaways. With the use of five highly detailed miniatures portraying some of the most cherished puppets, a fully modular board, and an advanced puppet behavior system, this will be a blast for horror fiends!
