Stone Blade Entertainment has announced The Lord of the Rings: Ascension, a new tabletop experience set in
J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary world of Middle-earth, developed in partnership with asmodee and
Middle-earth Enterprises.

Designed for fans of both immersive storytelling and strategic gameplay, The Lord of the Rings: Ascension invites players to step into a dynamic narrative shaped by their choices. Rather than simply retelling familiar tales, the game offers a branching experience where each decision carries weight, and no two journeys unfold the same way. Each of Tolkien’s three legendary volumes comes to life as its own standalone deckbuilding experience.

Set against the rich backdrop of Middle-earth, players will navigate evolving challenges, forge alliances, and confront the consequences of their actions across a living world inspired by Tolkien’s writings. Built from the ground up to reflect the tone, tension, and depth of the source material, The Lord of the Rings: Ascension aims to deliver an experience that feels authentically rooted in the legendarium.

Ascension has defined the deckbuilding genre, winning awards, building a passionate community, and setting the standard for strategic card game design. Now, with The Lord of the Rings: Ascension, Ascension is entering the world of licensed games.

Renegade Game Studios, in collaboration with Avalon Hill, is bringing Ikusa: Samurai Swords back to the table for the first time in over a decade with a deluxe 40th Anniversary Edition—exclusively launching on Gamefound this fall.

Known to many longtime fans as Shogun, Ikusa: Samurai Swords has been a staple of strategy gaming since its original release. Now, in honor of its 40th anniversary, Renegade is reviving the classic with all-new artwork, upgraded components, and premium production values—reimagining it as a true collector’s edition. As one of Avalon Hill’s most iconic strategy titles, this release reflects the studio’s continued focus on celebrating legacy games with premium, fan-first experiences.

In the game, players take on the role of rival warlords vying for control of feudal Japan. With armies and mercenaries at their command, each seeks to claim the ultimate title: Shogun. The 40th Anniversary Edition retains the core gameplay fans love while elevating the experience with refined visuals and deluxe components.

The Gamefound campaign will run from September 30 to October 30, offering fans exclusive access, behind-the-scenes content, sneak peeks at the components, and exciting giveaways. This edition will only be available through the Gamefound campaign and will not be offered at retail, making the upcoming campaign a must-back for collectors and longtime fans alike.

Following Dynamite‘s collaboration with Charles Band and the Full Moon team on the historic Puppet Master 35th anniversary trading cards, they’re bringing the mythos of Puppet Master and its iconic frightening, blood-thirsty puppets to the world of board games. In Puppet Master: Return to Bodega Bay The Board Game designed by Jay Spence, fans of the franchise will work together to survive the night and stop the twisted plans of the puppets before their master returns and time runs out. With the use of five highly detailed miniatures portraying some of the most cherished puppets, a fully modular board, and an advanced puppet behavior system, this will be a blast for horror fiends!
