The Beat – Essentials
The future of DC‘s television and movie universe is becoming a bit clearer as the cast of the animated Creature Commandos series has been announced. The show is part of the first phase of the new vision dubbed “Gods and Monsters.”
The cast is rather familiar, full of names we’ve seen before. Sean Gunn returns in his role as Weasel and will also be voicing G.I. Robot. Frank Grillo goes from the Marvel Universe to DC and will voice Rick Flag Sr. Maria Bakalova also hops universes and will voice Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, David Harbour crosses over from two other comic universeses (though he already was in a previous DC film) and will play Eric Frankenstein, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos.
Creature Commandos is a seven-episode animated series which sees Amanda Waller recruiting a team of prisoners who also happen to be monsters. James Gunn, one of the architects of the new DC vision, has written all of the episodes of the first season.
Based on the comic by Dimitri Logothetis, Jim McGrath, and McCrary Greg, Jiu Jitsu gets it first trailer.
In it, an ancient order of Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a vicious race of alien invaders in an epic battle for the survival of Earth.
The film stars Nicolas Cage and a cast that includes Alain Moussi, Frank Grillo, Rick Yune, Marie Avgeropoulos, Juju Chan, and Tony Jaa.
Co-written and directed by Kickboxer: Retaliation‘s Dimitri Logothetis, Jiu Jitsu debuts in Theaters, On Demand and Digital on November 20, 2020.
