NYCC 2025: Ladies of the Knight Brings Medieval Flair to a Queer-Normative Historical Fantasy

Oni Press harks a “Hear ye, hear ye” to announce the arrival of Fiona Marchbank’s, author-illustrator debut in Ladies of the Knight

In July 2026, enter a land where glamorous knights compete in showy tournaments for fame and fortune, and small and untrained George dreams of securing the coveted position of knight’s squire.

Serafina is the best knight around, no question. She’s so good that she’s getting bored and reckless in her jousts, but when she takes on plucky George as a squire, she suddenly finds herself in the position she never wanted: a mentor. Their partnership is going to be even harder than it looks, considering George can barely hold a sword without giving herself a black eye and Serafina is even pricklier than the lance she wields. But if either of them are going to take the league of knights by storm, they’ll have to learn that neither of them can do it alone.

Fans of SquireA Knight’s Tale, and Gwen & Art Are Not In Love will find themselves cheering for George and Serafina when Ladies of the Knight releases July 2026

Brie Page has been struggling with writer’s block. Her parents that constantly fight and her former best friend/current bully Viv Kinsley, and the gorgeous new girl Kay Ardiger are causing a bit of stress. An unexpected encounter with a mischievous bookseller, Ambrose Chance, gives Brie the extraordinary ability to go beyond her problems and bury them deep in new stories. When her worlds come to life, it’s up to her to save her town and her family-if only she could write an ending.

A teenage writer gets transported to a world of stories this June in Of Her Own Design

Mad Cave’s YA Imprint Maverick is pleased to announce Of Her Own Design, out June 18, 2024.  In this incredible narrative from writers Birdie Willis and Nicole Andelfinger with art by Jess Taylor and Fiona Marchbank, teenage writer Brie Page gets magically transported to the world of stories, but no matter how far she goes, she can’t seem to escape from the drama of her life.

In the small town of Holden, sixteen-year-old Brie Page has been struggling with a tremendous bout of writer’s block. And that’s a problem. One of many she has, actually. Parents that constantly fight, her former best friend/current bully Viv Kinsley, and the gorgeous new girl Kay Ardiger are causing a bit of stress. Brie used to hide from it all in her own worlds and stories, but that seems so far away now. Until an unexpected encounter with a mischievous bookseller, Ambrose Chance, gives Brie the extraordinary ability to go beyond her problems in life and bury them deep into three new stories. Too bad the whole town of Holden had to get caught up in it too when her stories come to life. Now, when the most important people in her life are stuck in fantastical tales, Brie needs to save them by diving into her worlds and facing her worries head-on. Which would be fine…if only she was better at writing endings.
