Family Tree #2 and Family Tree #3 Get New Printings

Image Comics has fast-tracked reprints of both Family Tree issues #2 and #3 by Eisner Award winning Jeff Lemire and Phil Hester in order to keep up with the frenzied fan enthusiasm for the bestselling body horror title.

In Family Tree #2, Loretta and her family are surrounded by deadly cultists and running out of time when Grandpa Judd arrives toting his ornery attitude and his trusty shotgun. But what good is a gun against a mysterious ailment turning his granddaughter into a tree?

In Family Tree #3, the characters follow a lead into the dark alleys of New York City’s Chinatown in search of a cure, while Meg begins to embrace her burgeoning transformation.

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Black Stars Above #1 (Vault Comics) – Set in 1887, the series follows a gil who flees her trapper family that’s overbearing to get lost in a dreamlike winter wilderness that harbors a cosmic threat.

Dollhouse Family #1 (DC Comics/Hill House Comics) – We’re intrigued where more of Joe Hill’s currated line of comics is going.

Fallen Angels #1 (Marvel) – The initial line-up of Dawn of X debuts and it’s an intriguing one.

Family Tree #1 (Image Comics) – The fact Jeff Lemire, Phil Hester, and Eric Gapstur is behind this should be enough. The story focused on a family’s journey to find a cure for their daughter who’s turning into a tree.

Far Sector #1 (DC Comics/DC’s Young Animal) – A new Green Lantern tale from Gerard Way’s imprint? We’re very intrigued.

Folklords #1 (BOOM! Studios) – Matt Kindt and Matt Smith team up for a new series which flips the fantasy/real world dynamic.

For Real #1 (Uncivilized Books) – Jack Kirby fights two battles in two ears. The first is cancer and the other is World War II.

Ginseng Roots #2 (Uncivilized Books) – Craig Thompson’s series of comics about his life picking ginseng is unique with some amazing art.

La Voz De Mayo Rambo (Image Comics) – The history of Ramon Jaurigue, an orphan and WWII veteran who co-founded the Mexican, American, Yaqui, and Others (M.A.Y.O.) organization, which successfully lobbied the Tucson City Council to improve living and working conditions for members of the Pascua Yaqui tribe.

Science Comics: Skyscrapers (First Second) – This series of graphic novels is fantastic. It both entertains and educates.

At Emerald City Comic Con, Image Comics kicked off the show with a slew of exciting creator-owned announcements.

Image Comics revealed the following creator-owned projects set to launch in the coming year and beyond.

DEATH OF LOVE

Fan-favorite writer Justin Jordan (SPREAD), artist Donal DeLay, colorist Felipe Sobreiro, and letterer Rachel Deering team up for an all-new, five-issue miniseries—DEATH OF LOVE.

In DEATH OF LOVE, a bitter, self-proclaimed nice guy gains the ability to see the Cupidae, who are responsible for love in the world. Who he then ends up in bloody and, hopefully, hilarious war with.

DEATH OF LOVE launches from Image Comics this Fall 2017.

FAMILY TREE

Bestselling, award-winning Jeff Lemire (ROYAL CITY, DESCENDER, Sweet Tooth) and Phil Hester (Shipwreck, Green Arrow) come together for FAMILY TREE.

Fan-favorite writer Joseph Keatinge (RINGSIDE, SHUTTER) and artist Wook-Jin Clark serve up FLAVOR.

In FLAVOR, Xoo’s a young chef in a closed-off metropolis whose economy surrounds the touring of—and some argue, exploitation of—young chefs. When she’s registered for the cooking tournament, she discovers the dark underbelly of the city—why they exploit the young chefs, where their foods coming from and why she’s got to fight against it all.

FLAVOR is on the menu for Fall 2017.
