Vinnie Paul continues to be one of the most beloved personalities in the history of metal and now his legacy can fill both our hearts and bellies with the perfect companion for your summer barbecue, Drumming Up an Appetite With Vinnie Paul, releasing from Z2. The book commemorates the memory of Vinnie’s legendary Sunday Funday dinners with this epicurean collection of his favorite family recipes. Opening with a foreword by comedian and friend Carrot Top, the book is broken into three chapters – main courses (Reinventing The Meal), side dishes (Far Beyond Kitchen) and of course, desserts (A Vulgar Display of Flour)!

The book, as well as the cover art by Erik Rodriguez, was a lifelong dream of Vinnie Paul’s, who said in 2015… “My cookbook will be called ‘Drumming Up an Appetite With Vinnie Paul’. How clever is that? It’s got a picture of me sitting behind a drum set. I’m holding two turkey legs, which are otherwise known as drum sticks!”

The recipes are captured through the photography of Justin Borucki, with illustrations by Danny Hellman, Steve Chanks, and Rob Schwager. The book is rounded out by an afterword from Vinnie’s best friend and personal assistant Brian “Bridog” Jones who added “Vinnie’s BBQ action was most definitely not your average line up whether it be at his Texas or Vegas casas, or on the road prepping and cooking for all the bands and crew and even the local venue personnel, his spread was legendary! Lots of very hard work from myself and many others made this book possible. Vinnie’s recipes are now being offered to the world!”

Z2 Comics and Dee Snider Capture the Rocker’s Fight Against Censorship and the PMRC in the Original Graphic Novel, He’s Not Gonna Take It

More than 35 years ago, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider marched into the United States Senate’s Committee on Commerce in a jean jacket and tank top to confront a band of concerned Washington housewives hellbent on silencing the howl of metal and beyond. Co-founded by Tipper Gore, a committee of politicians’ spouses labeling themselves the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) had lobbied to plaster “Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics” labels on any music that conformed to their definition of sexual, violent, or drug-endorsing. Partnering with Z2 Comics, Snider’s war to preserve the first amendment will be immortalized in He’s Not Gonna Take It, a graphic novel charting the rocker’s passionate battle against censorship alongside writer Frank Marraffino and artist Steve Kurth. 

The following journey would forever forge the name Dee Snider alongside the battle for freedom of expression—in the arts and beyond. Pantera and Z2 Celebrate 30 Years of Vulgar Display of Power with a Graphic Novel

Z2 Comics reaches “a new level” in 2022 with the release of an ambitious graphic anthology paying tribute to one of the biggest bands in the history of heavy metal, whose innovative fusion of groove and hardcore served as one of the defining sounds of the 1990s: Pantera! The Vulgar Display of Power graphic novel unites famous fans of the band throughout comics and music to team up on adaptations of all eleven of the album’s tracks.

Creators including Alan Robert, Eric Peterson, Keith Buckley, Burton C. Bell, Steve Niles, Tony Lee, and illustrators Brian Ewing, Ryan J. Downey, Erik Rodriguez, Ryan Kelly, Steve Chanks, Kevin Mellon, John Pearson, and Danijel Zezelj will each offer a unique interpretation inspired by the lyrics and music to create a whole new way to experience this landmark work of heavy art. 

Fronting this legacy of admiration and talent, legendary tattoo artist and friend of the band Paul Booth provides the stunning cover art, showing the grisly aftermath of the sucker-punch cover photo from the original album.

Z2 Comics and Anthrax’s Among the Living is Out in July

Since the first announcement of the upcoming graphic novel inspired by the titans of thrash metal’s landmark 1987 album, the project has remained one of the most anticipated releases of the year. It’s been announced that the Among the Living graphic novel will be released in stores everywhere on July 6! In an effort to support the comic book specialty market, which had been hardest by the COVID-19 health crisis of the past year, Anthrax and Z2 shipped a surprise limited number of copies early, with stores able to put out for sale this week!

The project pulls together a who’s who of names from around comics and music for a track-by-track storyline inspired by one of heavy metal’s most iconic albums with all four members of the classic Anthrax lineup contributing!

An anthology narrated by longtime mascot “The Not Man” newly designed by Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) and written by Jimmy Palmiotti (Harley Quinn, Blondie: Against the Odds) and illustrated by classic Aliens artist Nelson; Among the Living unites bandmembers Joey Belladonna, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante, and Scott Ian, with writers, artists, and other rock legends in a tribute to their landmark 1987 album, featuring covers by JG Jones, Eric Powell, and a preorder variant from Charlie Benante. Additional interior art and chapter breaks by Sawblade, Brian Ewing, and Josh Bernstein.

Scott Ian will contribute an original story inspired by the fan favorite anthem “I Am the Law,” featuring the legendary comic book antihero Judge Dredd, in partnership with 2000 AD. This will make official the decades long connection between the character and the band, rewarding comic book fans and metalheads alike, and features art by longtime Dredd artist Chris Weston.

The Among the Living graphic novel pulls together a who’s who of names from around comics and music for a track-by-track storyline inspired by one of heavy metal’s most iconic albums, with the full creative lineup announced today.
 
An anthology narrated by the longtime mascot “The Not Man” newly designed by Greg Nicotero and written by Jimmy Palmiotti and illustrated by classic Aliens artist Nelson; Among the Living unites bandmembers Joey Belladonna, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante, and Scott Ian, with writers, artists, and other rock legends in a tribute to their landmark 1987 album, featuring covers by JG Jones, Eric Powell, and a preorder variant from Charlie Benante.

The King! Elvis Returns in a New Graphic Novel in 2021

Z2 Comics and Authentic Brands Group (ABG), have announced an all-new original graphic novel that captures the amazing story of one of the most celebrated performers of all time: Elvis Presley. The book is available for pre-order in multiple editions now, including a limited-edition oversized hardcover accompanied by a new compilation album from Sony Music, mirroring the story through the musician’s own early output that came to define American rock and roll.

Elvis: The Graphic Novel will follow the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s humble beginnings in Memphis as a young artist struggling to find his voice and break into the music industry. From the history-making Sun Studio to television sets across the nation, the trials and tribulations of Elvis Aaron Presley are illustrated in graphic detail by author Chris Miskiewicz and Marvel Comics artist Michael Shelfer.
