Ringo Awards Nominees Signing at Baltimore Comic Con

Come to the Baltimore Comic Con this September 8th, 9th, and 10th at the Baltimore Convention Center just off of the Inner Harbor. The Baltimore Comic Con is pleased to announce signings for some of the 2023 Ringo Awards nominees, past and present, hosted at show sponsor store Cards Comics & Collectibles’ booth. Nominees signing at the Cards Comics & Collectibles booth include Drew Edwards, Leeanne M. Krecic (Mongie), Matt Miner, Gene Selassie, and Ellie WrightTickets to the show can be purchased on their website.

Signings all take place at the Cards Comics & Collectibles booth (#916) and the schedule is as follows:

Award-winning comic book writer, horror film historian, music journalist, rock promoter, and showman extraordinaire; these are all guises of the creative force known as Drew Edwards.

Edwards is a Best of Austin Winner, Ringo Awards Nominee, and member of the Pen America Fellowship of Writers. Best known as the writer and creator of the long-running underground comic book series, Halloween Man, thousands tune in each week to hear him as a cast member of the horror movie podcast Castle of Horror. Known as “Howlin’” Drew Edwards to many musicians, he’s helped bridge the horror and comic culture worlds with Austin’s legendary music scene with Halloween Man Productions’ annual “Punk vs. Rockabilly” showcase during SXSW.. Drew currently lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, musician/activist Jamie Bahr, and a pair of lovable bunnies.

Leeanne M. Krecic, also known to her fans as “Mongie”, is the creator of the Eisner-nominated and Amazon bestselling comic phenomenon Let’s Play. As a webcomic, Let’s Play has over 5 million global subscribers and is available in English, French, Spanish, and German through the webcomics platform, Webtoon. The graphic novel collections of Let’s Play are 2 of the top 30 all-time Kickstarters in the Comics category and are published by Rocketship Entertainment. Announced in 2021, Let’s Play is being adapted as a live action series by Allnighter (Final FantasyLuther Strode). In 2021, Leeanne was nominated for the Ringo Award for Best Cartoonist.

With a degree in computer science, Leeanne worked as head of IT for an Internet-based company for eleven years, helping it become a multi-million dollar company, before deciding to pursue her dream of becoming a comic creator. Entirely self-taught, Leeanne has worked as a commissioned freelance artist for over eight years, creating concept art for tabletop games, and book covers. Leeanne resides in Kansas City with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and over a hundred fish.

Matt Miner is a New York Times-featured comic book writer, pit bull rescuer, and aging punk living in Queens, NY with his wife and millions of dogs. Matt is well known for his politically charged and punk rock infused work, including GWAR: Orgasmageddon for Dynamite Entertainment, Lab RaiderToe Tag RiotLiberator, and Critical Hit for Black Mask Studios, and Poser for Waxwork Comics. Matt also co-edited/spearheaded the political horror anthology This Nightmare Kills Fascists for A Wave Blue World, and the Ringo-nominated anthology All We Ever Wanted: Stories of a Better World that takes a look at a more positive future vision. Gene Selassie was a contributing writer for the Eisner Award-winning Puerto Rico Strong anthology from Lion Forge. He also wrote The Ghoul Agency from Action Lab Entertainment, which was nominated for a Ringo Award for Best Kids Comic/Graphic Novel, and VoxoDeus with Myth Division.

Additionally, he’s a sports journalist who covers professional wrestling for TheScrumSports.com and OneOfUs.net, which led to him completing his first non-fiction book, And How They Rumbled: The 80 Best Pro Wrestling Bouts Over the Last 40 Years.

Finally, he’s the writer behind the upcoming animated feature Peter Pan: The Land of Forever.

Ellie Wright is a Ringo Award-nominated professional comic-book colourist. Ellie has worked for numerous global publishing companies, including Dynamite Entertainment, DC, Top Cow, IDW, Image, Oni Press, and Mad Cave. Beyond October: The 20th Anniversary Issue
