sleepy hollow 1 cover Phil NotoWednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in! Below are ten suggestions of comics, graphic novels, or trade paperbacks you should spend some extra time checking out and think about picking up. And this is a week that this list could easily be double the size.

Pick of the Week: Sleepy Hollow #1 (BOOM! Studios) – The hit television series comes to comics and we’re expecting some big things! We’re fans of the show, and to see it in comic form will help add to our weekly addiction. Here’s hoping we get a lot more Sleepy Hollow in our future.

Death of Wolverine #4 (Marvel) – This is it! Wolverine dies here! It’s been building for quite some time now, but Marvel kills off one of its biggest stars. We’re fully expecting him to come back at some point, and there’s many spin-off comics to come, so you’ll get your Wolverine fix for many more months…. until his eventual return.

Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor #1 (Titan Comics) – The newest Doctor gets his due in comic form. We’re looking forward to seeing how this Doctor’s personality comes off in comic form, and how those eyebrows are drawn!

Doomboy Vol. 1 (Magnetic Press) – An awesome graphic novel following a young boy who rocks! It’s an amazing musical fantasy that’s well worth your time and the read.

Evil Empire #6 (BOOM! Studios) -BOOM!’s epic hasn’t disappointed yet. It’s how that evil government turned evil, and every issue has had a twist and turn that has had our jaw on the floor. So good, especially for those who enjoy a little politics in their comics.

Lumberjanes #7 (BOOM! Studios/BOOM! Box) – One of the best comics out there. It features fun women at camp, and has an amazing group of talented women putting it all together. In other words, we need more of this.

Ms. Marvel #9 (Marvel) – Another example of something we need more of. An amazing mix of superhero and real life featuring a young Muslim girl. The art is fantastic, stories are entertaining, and the writing feels real and fresh. Again, we want more of this!

Prometheus: Fire and Stone #2 (Dark Horse) – Dark Horse is putting together an amazing interconnected series of comics set in the Alien/Prometheus/Predator universe, and though slow to start, once you realize what they’re doing, it’s quite amazing.

Skylanders #1 (IDW Publishing) – Based off of the popular video game, we’re expecting this to be one of the top selling comics of the year.

Uncle Grandpa #1 (BOOM! Studios/KaBOOM!) – At its core, Uncle Grandpa is a show about everyone’s magical uncle and grandpa who travels around the world in a mystical RV. Um, yeah…. sign us up!
