Manny Castellanos joins Alien Books to handle Sales and Operations

Alien Books, the NY-based comics publisher that has partnered with Valiant Entertainment to produce new Valiant Comics, has brought Manny Castellanos on board to manage Sales and Operations for its entire line of comics, manga, and graphic novels.

Manny Castellanos joins the team at Alien Books after previously working in the sales departments at Mad Cave Studios and BOOM! Studios, where he collaborated with distribution partners like Diamond Comic Distributors and engaged with direct market retailers to help drive orders of monthly releases and address their ongoing needs.

Castellanos joins just in time as September will see the release of two major titles from Alien Books in comic shops: Resurgence of the Valiant Universe #1 and Black, White & Bloodshot #1.

Flamingo will rise from the ashes in Resurgence of the Valiant Universe, the can’t miss Valiant Comics crossover event arriving in comic shops September 18th. Alien Books (and the villainous Dr. Silk) are set to dramatically break the rules of the Valiant Universe in the four-issue event series!

Imagine a world free of disease, war, and death! A world where no one needs to fear death ever again. A world where all are united under the web of the enigmatic Dr. Silk and his Weavers! In Resurgence of the Valiant Universe #1 by co-writers Becky Cloonan, Michael W. Conrad, Fred Van Lente, and AJ Ampadu, and artists Guillermo Fajardo and Julio Azamor, you’ll get your first glimpse at this new world order and how it affects the lives and allegiances of iconic Valiant Comics characters like X-O Manowar, Bloodshot, Eternal Warrior, Ninjak, Ivar, Rai, Livewire, Faith and more.

While Flamingo is set to return from the dead in the first issue, it’s not until the second issue of the series, co-written by Valiant mainstay Fred Van Lente and rising star AJ Ampadu, that readers will see the dramatic effect her resurrection has on the heroes she once called allies. With Silk seemingly proving out his plan of world peace and eternal life, our heroes find their unity broken, as friends and family fall on either side of the conflict. 

The outcomes of the event will impact the entire Valiant Comics line and set up new storytelling opportunities in 2025. 

Resurgence of the Valiant Universe #1 releases September 18 in comic shops nationwide, and will boast an assortment of covers by Guillermo Fajardo, Agustin Alessio, Juan José Ryp, and a 1:25 Wraparound Incentive cover by Mico Suayan. Final orders are due with comic shop retailers on 8/19.

Resurgence of the Valiant Universe #2 by Fred Van Lente, AJ Ampadu, and Guillermo Fajardo arrives in comic shops on 10/23. Final orders are due with comic shop retailers on 9/23. Resurgence of the Valiant Universe #3 arrives in comic shops on 11/20. Final orders are due with comic shop retailers on 10/21.
