IF takes the weekend box office falling short of expectations

IF

IF won the weekend grossing $35 million domestically. The film was expected to debut around $40 million, so fell short of expectations. Internationally, the movie grossed $24 million for a worldwide total of $59 million.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes slipped one spot and came in second in its second week. The film dropped 55.5% grossing an estimated $26 million to bring its domestic total to $101.2 million. Internationally, the film grossed $63.8 million to bring that total to $136.3 million. Worldwide, the film has brought in $237.5 million so far.

Th Strangers: Chapter 1 debuted in third place with $12 million.

The Fall Guy fell from second to fourth adding an estimated $8.5 million to its total to bring that to just under $63 million. Over the week, the movie added $10.6 million to its international total to increase that to $64.6 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $127.6 million.

Challengers rounded out the top five with $2.9 million to bring its domestic total to $43.5 million. Over the week, it added $4.6 million internationally to lift that to $35.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $78.7 million.

Spy x Family Code: White added about $100,000 to its domestic total over the week. Domestically, the film has grossed $8 million. Internationally, the film added around $200,000 over the week and has grossed $51.5 million for a worldwide total of $59.5 million.

Madame Web‘s domestic gross remained at $43.8 million. Internationally, the film has grossed just under $56.5 million. The movie sits at $100.3 million.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training remained at $17.7 million domestically. Internationally, the film remained at $26.7 million. Worldwide the movie has grossed $44.4 million.

Numbers have 60 films earning $96,478,801 from 31,911 theaters. That’s about the same as the previous weekend’s $96,083,569 from 34,210 theaters and 69 films. The average earning was $3,023.37 which is a slight improvement from the previous weekend’s $2,808.64.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was the top movie at the weekend box office with an estimated $56.5 million. Internationally, the film did even better with $72.5 million delivering $129 million worldwide.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes opened with $54.8 million domestically and went on to gross $481.8 million in 2011. In 2014, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opened with $72.6 million and eventually grossed $710.6 million worldwide. War for the Planet of the Apes opened with $56.3 million in 2017 and went on to gross $490.7 million worldwide.

The Fall Guy fell to second place in its second weekend grossing $13.7 million to bring its domestic total to $49.7 million. Internationally, the film grossed $17.1 million over the week to bring that to a little over $54 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $103.7 million.

Challengers held steady in third place with $4.7 million to bring its domestic total to $38.1 million. Over the week, the film grossed $7.8 million internationally to bring that to $30.6 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $68.7 million.

Tarot held steady in fourth with $3.5 million to bring its domestic total to $12 million. Internationally, the film grossed $4.5 million over the week to bring that to $8.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $20.2 million.

The Fall Guy topped the weekend box office and was the only film to gross over $10 million. The movie opened with $28.5 million domestically. The movie did a bit better internationally where it grossed $36.9 million for an opening weekend of $65.4 million.

In second place was the re-release of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Domestically, the movie grossed $8.1 million and internationally, the movie grossed $6.4 million for a worldwide gross of $14.5 million.

Challengers dropped 49.1% and came in third place from the previous weekend’s first. The movie grossed $7.6 million to bring its domestic total to $29.5 million. Over the week, the movie grossed $12.8 million internationally to bring that total to $22.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $52.3 million after two weeks.

Tarot debuted in fourth place with $6.5 million domestically and $3.7 million internationally for a worldwide total of $10.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire which added $4.5 million to its domestic total which now is $188.1 million. Over the week, the film grossed $21.1 million at the international box office to bring that total to $358.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $546.9 million.

It was another rough weekend at the box office as only one film made over $10 million as the overall box office gross remained close to the previous week. Challengers won the weekend while last weekend’s top two films, Civil War and Abigail, dropped hard.

Challengers opened with a little over $15 million to win the weekend domestic box office. The film also grossed $10 million internationally for an opening of a little over $25 million.

Unsung Hero debuted in second place with an estimated $7.8 million. No international gross has been reported.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire held on to third place for the second weekend in a row and added $7.2 million to its domestic total which is now $181.7 million. Over the week, it added $24.1 million to its international total to bring that to $337.7 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $519.4 million.

In its third week, Civil War dropped to fourth place from first for two weekends in a row. The movie lost 37.6% and grossed an estimated $7 million to bring its domestic gross to $56.2 million. Internationally, the movie added $10.8 million to its total to bring that to $15.4 million Worldwide, the movie has grossed $71.6 million.

Abigail rounded out the top five after debuting in second the previous week. The movie dipped 49% and grossed an estimated $5.3 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $18.8 million. It added $4.9 million internationally to bring that to $9.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $28.6 million.
