IDW proudly welcomes Darran Robinson and Corey Wells to the company. As Art Director, Darran will focus primarily on designs, logos, and much more for various IDW comics and projects. He worked at DC for almost eight years, and also worked on design projects for Disney, WWE, Activision, and more. As Fan Engagement Coordinator, Corey will expand IDW’s community engagement through social media, videos, events, and much more. Corey’s previous experience includes working in comic book shops (Fantom Comics, Showcase Comics) and TKO Studios.

Ryan Balkam has been promoted from Speciality Sales Manager to Director of Sales. During his time at IDW, he heavily promoted TMNT’s best-selling relaunch, crafted the hit TMNT #13 blind bag program, and built the engaging Whatnot partnership.

Cassandra Jones received a promotion from Editorial Assistant to Associate Editor. With almost two years at IDW, Cassandra will continue to help craft and coordinate comics from the STAR TREK and MONSTER HIGH lines, as well as select horror comics from the IDW DARK imprint.

IDW announces new hires and promotions

You can’t make great comics without great editors, and IDW Publishing is incredibly proud to announce the addition of two talented new hires in the Editorial department: Bixie Mathieu and Cassandra Jones. Additionally, several members of the hardworking Editorial team have received promotions.

Mathieu joins the award-winning publisher as Associate Editor, with an emphasis on the My Little Pony and Sonic the Hedgehog lines of comics in addition to developing pitches for original properties. With a degree in International Studios from the University of Texas at Austin, IDW’s new Associate Editor boasts an impressive resume which includes DC, Tapas, and Skybound.

Jones has become IDW’s new Editorial Assistant, focusing on the Eisner Award-nominated Star Trek line. They have a BA in English from Boston University and an MA in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College. Jones brings eight years of experience in book publishing to the team and is known for creating and editing the comics anthology Let Her Be Evil. Jones is eager to boldly explore the vast Star Trek universe in addition to the other captivating tales that IDW publishes.

Additional changes in the Editorial department include Nic Niño becoming Assistant Editor on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jake Williams as Associate Editor on the Godzilla line and creator-owned titles, and Thea Cheuk as Editor leading the Sonic the Hedgehog line and Saturday Morning Adventures titles.

Let Her Be Evil

If you’re looking for sympathetic anti-heroines or villainesses with tragic backstories, you won’t find them here. Let Her Be Evil is a celebration of unapologetically wicked women with cruel intentions—of the nasty, the vile, the rage-fueled monstresses who know exactly what they want and aren’t afraid to get it by any means necessary.

The crowdfunding campaign for this 128-page softcover anthology has launched on Zoop and funded in less than a day. The comic is spearheaded by comics newcomer, Cassandra Jones. Jones comes from the world of traditional publishing as an editor, and has assembled an impressive roster of creators for her debut comics work. Let Her Be Evil features seventeen original stories, including new work by Heather Antos, Brent Fisher, Rio Burton, Kamila Krol, Moe McGonagle, as well as dozens of other writers, artists, colorists, and letterers.

The goal of this anthology is to provide the same narrative space that villainess’ male counterparts enjoy in movies, books, and comics without being explained away by child loss or sexual assault, and to free them of the preconceived notion that they should be morally punished for their deeds while we allow male villains to be evil without comment.

Rewards include the book, art prints, stickers, and much more.
