SDCC 2014: Aspen Comics’ Announcements

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Aspen Comics had numerous announcements throughout the convention and their panel.

Aspen’s runaway hit 2014 series Lola XOXO returns in 2015 with an action-packed Lola XOXO: Volume 2 by creator Siya Oum, as well as an all new spin-off mini-series Lola XOXO: Wasteland Madam written by Vince Hernandez and illustrated by Oum. Lola XOXO: The Wasteland Madam will feature an all new heroine in the Lola Universe struggling to maintain control over a renegade force of post-apocalyptic survivors, while trying to come to grips with her horrific and tragic past.

This return of one of Aspen’s leading heroes focuses on the aftermath of the catastrophic first volume’s climax, while offering an all new jumping on point for new readers.

DELLEC-v2-01-DONEw-logoPopular “10 for 10” series Legend of the Shadow Clan returns next year with creator/writers David Wohl and Brad Foxhoven returning to the family clan of ancient ninja heritage with art by penciler Giuseppe Cafaro.

LEGENDSHADOWCLAN-V2#198D2032015 will see the debut of the first series of Aspen Sourcebooks line, featuring essential and never-before-seen handbooks of Aspen’s most popular and longest-running titles, including Michael Turner’s Fathom, Soulfire and Executive Assistant: Iris, written by Hannibal Tabu, with future editions planned for Aspen’s later titles.

 

Aspen Novels, the new prose imprint from the publisher, will release its second novel this November, Seven to Die, from author T.G. RobertsSeven to Die tells the story of Lex MacArthur, a San Francisco college student who comes into possession of an enigmatic clay pendant that unlocks a bevy of dormant superhuman genes. She’s stronger, she’s faster, and she’s on a mission to find out why. As Lex sets out to discover who she is and where she really came from, she comes face-to-face with Egil, a killer who has been tracking Lex her entire life.  At the helm of an enormous operation to eradicate all of Lex’s kind, Egil captures Lex’s long-lost mother, forcing Lex to confront him head on and save those she loves from certain death.

SevenToDie-TG_Rober#198D2EDThis October, Aspen continues its push to a broader reach with a more kid friendly library with the release of Fathom: The Adventures of Ernie on October ComicFest 2014. This kid-friendly coloring and activity book will feature a story written by Vince Hernandez with art by Agnes Garbowska.

The publisher has confirmed their recent addition to the Madefire Motion Comic App with a series of upcoming announcements planned for their release schedule in the coming months.

Aspen has signed on with the consulting firm, The Powell Group, to expand their multi-media publishing in the video game industry with a plan to adapt their popular titles into several platforms.

 

Aspen has teamed up with the app beacon company Webble to produce a Cosplay Card Set featuring the industry’s most popular cosplayers as Aspen’s top characters.

NYCC 2013: Aspen Comics Brings the Announcements

Aspen Comics made numerous announcements at the 2013 New York Comic Con including new and returning comic book series.

Lola from creator Siya Oum will be released in Spring 2014 and features a story fully written and illustrated by Oum. Featuring a post-apocalyptic landscape and one woman’s desire to discover the truth about her missing parents while she traverses the landscape known as the “Wasteland” in search of them.

Damsels in Excess from creator Vince Hernandez and Mirka Andolfo is a fairy tale action-adventure series that centers on a young princess, Bethany, who must survive the deadly threat of her fellow princesses of the Five Realms before they destroy her kingdom—and end her life.

J.T. Krul’s fantasy adventure series Jirni returns for a second volume with the original first volume’s art team of Paolo Pantalena and Brett Smith following the breakout success of its initial offering. Aspen will also be releasing a spinoff mini-series written by Krul, Jirni: Fall of the D’jinn set for release the same month as the launch of Jirni: Volume 2.

David Wohl and Brad Foxhoven’s Legend of the Shadow Clan returns for a second volume as well, following the hit first story arc. The art team of Cory Smith and John Starr will be returning as the series art team for the next volume.

Aspen Novels is set to publish 7 To Die by author Tag Roberts in 2014. Aspen will be adding another novel to their burgeoning line of books this year with the release of 7 To Die with more to follow soon. 7 To Die tells the story of Lex MacArthur, a bright, but struggling San Francisco college student who inexplicably receives an enigmatic clay pendant with an etched eight-pointed star in the mail. The pendant, which unlocks a bevy of dormant superhuman genes, also ignites Lex’s mission to discover who she is and where she came from. With several new enemies aggressively pursuing her to extort and capitalize on her newfound abilities, Lex is forced to fight for her life and save those she loves from certain death.

Aspen has teamed up with Comixology to offer large-scale omnibus editions of their popular flagship series Fathom, Soulfire and Executive Assistant: Iris. The Fathom Omnibus Edition Volumes 1 and 2 are available for purchase now, with the Executive Assistant: Iris and Executive Assistant: Assassins Omnibus Editions available on October 16th. November will see the release of the Soulfire Omnibus Edition Volumes 1 and 2.

Legend of The Shadow Clan #2 Gets J. Scott Campbell Incentive Covers & More!

Aspen Comics continues to tease their upcoming Legend of the Shadow Clan with J. Scott Campbell Retailer Incentive cover amongst other incentive offers for fans and retailers for their second issue.. The series was created by David Wohl and Brad Foxhoven and written by Wohl with art by Cory Smith and John Starr.

The Arashis believed themselves to be just an average family, but everything changed the night that Dr. William Arashi inadvertently found himself in a battle with well-armed assassins, and he not only survived, but he defeated them! Aspen Comics Kicks Off “10 For 10” with Legend of The Shadow Clan and Added Incentives for Fans and Retailers

Aspen is planning to celebrate the publisher’s tenth anniversary this February in a big way, with their largest offering of new titles in their history.

Launching their special “10 for 10” initiative that will feature ten new series releases, one each month over the span of ten months. Aspen’s “10 for 10” will debut with the launch of Legend of the Shadow Clan #1 on February 6th, 2013. From creators David Wohl and Brad Foxhoven and the art team of Cory Smith and John StarrLegend of the Shadow Clan marks Aspen’s first all new property of 2013.

Meet the Arashi family. They are like any other family living in the city: kids in school, parents working to make ends meet. But unbeknownst to even them, their ancestors held a dark secret: they were a clan of ninja in feudal Japan, in the employ of a prominent leader. But when that leader was murdered under mysterious circumstances, the Arashi Clan was blamed, and forced to flee, going into hiding. Over the centuries, the descendants lost track of the ancient ways. They came to America, abandoning their sordid past to distant memory. However, recently, their secret has been discovered–their ancient enemy has returned, and won’t rest until every member of the Arashi clan is killed. Now, the Arashi family must rediscover their long-forgotten birthright if they hope to have any chance of surviving the onslaught to come, and along the way, they will learn theLegend of the Shadow Clan.

As well, every subsequent #1 issue for each new release in Aspen’s “10 for 10” program will be offered at the same low $1 price.

To help support comic shops’ push for Legend of the Shadow #1 and the Aspen “10 for 10” titles to follow, Aspen is offering a multitude of special incentives for stores to choose from on the debut issue, priced at a near Free Comic Book Day level to retailers:

Every fan or new reader who lets their local retailer know to add Legend of the Shadow Clan #1 to their subscription box is eligible to receive the special  “Aspen Reserved Edition” cover for each “10 for 10” #1 title. Fans who collect all ten Reserved Edition covers at their local comic book store will then be eligible to receive the free Aspen “10 for 10” Jam Poster (to be revealed soon!) featuring characters from all ten titles and colored by superstar colorist Peter Steigerwald.

Any retailer who orders 50 copies of the $1 priced Legend of the Shadow Clan #1 will receive a signed and numbered copy of the direct cover edition, along with a certificate of authenticity.
