Battlestar Galactica: Six Spotlights the Iconic Female Cylon

Dynamite and NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products have announced the upcoming Battlestar Galactica: Six comic book series, set within the continuity of the reimagined 2003 Battlestar Galactica television series. It features one of its most iconic characters, the Cylon model known as Six.  The first chapter of this five-issue miniseries will launch in April 2014, featuring the creative talents of writer J.T. Krul, interior artist Igor Vitorino, and cover artists Jenny Frison and Chris Bolson.  A photo cover featuring actress Tricia Helfer will also be available.

Battlestar Galactica: Six takes place in the days before the last great Cylon War. Locked away in a psychiatric ward on the planet Leonis, a woman known only as Eve is haunted by memories of worlds she’s never seen, hazy images of a past full of anguish and death.  One vision in particular calls to her through the pain, like a distant song echoing in her mind.  It is calling her home.  Is Eve crazy… or something much more?  In developing the next generation of Cylons, getting the models to look human was the easy part… but acting human is another story.  Longtime fans will witness the evolution of Number Six as she learns to live, to love, and to hate.

It’s Frakking Passover with Democratic City Council Candidate Ben Kallos

Admitting you’re a geek is no longer a nail in the coffin for potential candidates. This past election, numerous geeks were re-elected or elected for the first time, including our current Commander-in-Geek who has admitted to collecting Spider-Man and Conan comics and had geeky moments in office.

New York City Upper East Side Democratic City Council Candidate Ben Kallos is an admitted nerd who went so far to build a website Battlestar Galactica themed Passover seder. In an interview with DNAinfo, Kallos said:

I’m a policy wonk, and I like science fiction.

The website includes a detailed guide in how to host your own Battlestar Galactica themed Passover. The idea began for him after a discussion with friends and he looks at it as a way to educate people with a twist.

Kallos has a tech background and has built numerous websites including fun ones like this, as well for government and community agencies.

Kallos ended his interview with:

I’m hoping to be part of a future where everyone is accepted.

Kallos is a shoo-in to win in next month’s election which adds another honorable elected official who’s also a proud geek, one that’ll represent us all well.
