Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

The Wrong Earth

Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in!

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this Wednesday.

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1 (DC Comics) – The first two volumes that brough together Batman and the Turtles were tons of fun and we’re excited to see where this new volume goes and what new adventures they can come up with.

Copra Vol. 1/Copra Vol. 3/Copra Vol. 5 (Image Comics) Copra is now with Image Comics and with new printings, it’ll be easier than ever to get a copy to check out. The series is an indie take on superhero comics and so worth it.

DCeased #1 (DC Comics) – This sounds like DC’s version of Marvel’s popular zombie stories and we’re good with that.

DC’s Year of the Villain #1 (DC Comics) – This is going to be an important issue as it sounds like it’ll set up the next year of DC Comics.

Descendent #1 (AfterShock) – A new series that revolves around secret government conspiracies, ancient cults, government corruption and the kidnapped son of a Senator. We’re in.

Fallen World #1 (Valiant Entertainment) – A new trip to the future of the Valiant universe focusing on Rai and Bloodshot. Valiant always delivers and this is no exception.

Five Years #1 (Abstract Studios) – Weaving many of the strands of the “Terryverse” into one epic saga we’re there for any series by Terry Moore.

Hashtag Danger #1 (AHOY Comics) – A dysfunctional scientific team taking on lost civilizations and supernatural threats. Sound familiar? AHOY is an amazing publisher having fun with comic tropes and have delivered with every issue and series. Plus you get tons of extras!

Spencer and Locke 2 #1 (Action Lab: Danger Zone) – The second volume of the twisted take on Calvin and Hobbes set in Sin City expands the homage as they take on a familiar enemy who’s a bit like Beetle Baily.

Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale (DC Comics/DC Ink) – We’re here to support this initiative of graphic novels aimed at younger readers! Check it out on Free Comic Book Day too!

War of the Realms #3 (Marvel) – Marvel’s event has been epic but uneven but we want to see what’s next in a pass the popcorn and turn off our brain sort of way.

The Wrong Earth Vol. 1 (AHOY Comics) – If you missed this series, you have no excuse now. It’s a spoof, homage, and love letter to superhero comics, especially Batman.

Third Time’s a Charm for Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The 80th anniversary of Batman collides with the 35th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this May as DC Publishing and IDW Publishing today announced plans for Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, a stunning six-issue conclusion to the smash-hit crossover trilogy.

James Tynion IV reunites with artist Freddie E. Williams II and colorist Jeremy Colwell for this final chapter starring Gotham’s Dark Knight and New York’s Heroes in a Half Shell. Kevin Eastman will illustrate variant covers for the series and, as he did in collaboration with Williams II on 2017’s Kamandi Challenge, contribute interior artwork at a pivotal point in the new run.

In the first two blockbuster volumes, our heroes battled the evil of the Foot Clan in Gotham and then went head-to-head with Bane in New York. But now, in the third and biggest chapter, Krang has gotten his hands on the most dangerous technologies in the DC Universe—and no universe is safe from his wrath!

Fans of the comic series will see the Dark Knight continue to fight like never before with wall-to-wall ninja action in Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IIIbeginning May 1, 2019.

Also announced this week by Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Entertainment, DC Entertainment and Nickelodeon is Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, an all-new animated movie arriving on 4K, Blu-ray and Digital later this spring, based on Tynion IV and Williams II’s first volume of Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
