Get a look at Paris from Andi Watson and Simon Gane

Author Andi Watson and Eisner Award nominated artist Simon Gane present a new expanded edition of the original graphic novel, Paris. This beautiful, atmospheric story will feature new artwork and land on shelves this May from Image Comics.

Paris follows Juliet, a penniless American art student, who travels to the City of Light to study painting. To pay her way, she paints portraits of wealthy debutantes. One of her subjects is Deborah, a young English woman suffocated by the narrow expectations of her aristocratic family. Juliet is equally confined by the rigid academic structure of her art education and finds an unlikely kindred spirit in Deborah. Juliet and Deborah’s love for art brings them together, even as their friends and family try to drive them apart.

Paris original graphic novel (ISBN: 978-1-5343-2120-5, Diamond Code JAN220156) will be available on Wednesday, May 25 and in bookstores on Tuesday, May 31.

Comics Deserve Better Episode 17: The Book Tour by Andi Watson

After a week off for Thanksgiving, Brian, Darci, and Logan are back to talk about indie comics. They discuss the announcement of the upcoming Houghton Mifflin graphic novel The Worst Ronin, the remastering of Mike Grell‘s legendary Jon Sable, Freelance series. and maybe dig into yaoi manga a little bit too much. Then, they chat about Andi Watson‘s 2020 comic The Book Tour, the black and white saga of an author who can’t sell a single copy of his book and keeps getting put up in worse and worse hotels and ends up in a quite conundrum and wrap up things up by mentioning what they’re thankful for in 2020. Other comics mentioned on the show include A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, Fake, I Walk with Monsters, Lumberjanes: End of Summer, Trese, and Kill A Man.

A page-turning, Kafkaesque dark comedy in brilliant retro style, this graphic novel watches one man try to keep it together while everything falls apart.

Upon the publication of his latest novel, G. H. Fretwell, a minor English writer, embarks on a book tour to promote it. Nothing is going according to plan, and his trip gradually turns into a nightmare. But now the police want to ask him some questions about a mysterious disappearance, and it seems that Fretwell’s troubles are only just beginning…

In his first book for adults in many years, acclaimed cartoonist Andi Watson evokes all the anxieties felt by every writer and compresses them into a comedic gem of a book. Witty, surreal, and sharply observant, The Book Tour offers a captivating lesson in letting go.
