Vault Announces A Dark Interlude with New Series Artist Piotr Kowalski

Vault has announce the long-awaited return of A Dark Interlude with new series artist, Piotr Kowalski. Beginning with Issue #3, which hits shelves in January 2022, A Dark Interlude will return to its monthly release schedule.

A Dark Interlude, the not-quite-a-sequel to Fearscape, is written by Ryan O’Sullivan, drawn by Piotr Kowalski, colored by Vladimir Popov, lettered by Andworld Design, and designed by Tim Daniel. 

A Dark Interlude #3 hits store shelves on January 26, 2022, with a stunning A cover by Ariela Kristantina and a gorgeous B cover variant by Rebekah Isaacs.

What sort of gibbering reprobate requires solicit information for the third chapter of a story? Why must I continue to write these? And don’t you dare respond citing “contractual obligations”. If we’re going to go down that route, then may I remind you that if it wasn’t for me, nobody would have heard of… [Message truncated once again, with apologies, at the request of Vault Comics].

A Dark Interlude #1 Gets a Cover from Caspar Wijingaard

Vault Comics has announced two new gorgeous Caspar Wijingaard incentive covers for A Dark Interlude #1. Caspar’s cover art will come in two different versions: a regular cover will be available as a 1:15 variant, while a deluxe foil edition printed on thick card stock will be available as a 1:30 variant.

A Dark Interlude is the “not-quite-a-sequel” to Fearscape, co-created by writer Ryan O’Sullivan and artist Andrea Mutti with colors by Vladimir Popov, letters by Andworld, and design by Tim Daniel. 

A Dark Interliude marks the return of comics most unreliable narrator and legendary jerk, Henry Henry.

Ryan O’Sullivan’s Fearscape Gets a Follow-Up with A Dark Interlude

Writer Ryan O’Sullivan has revealed that is Vault Comics series Fearscape gets a follow-up series this November called, A Dark Interlude.

Fearscape was very metatextual and playful. It was a genre fiction story that poked fun at itself. A Dark Interlude follows on from this – as a sequel all about the pitfalls of our current culture of neverending sequels/shared universes/franchises.

The simple high-concept is: “Imagine a modern-day, supernatural, Dark Fantasy story like Sandman or Swamp Thing, but with a lead character as unlikable, yet relatable, as Walter White from Breaking Bad.”
