In second place was Daddy’s Home 2 which earned $30 million off of a $69 million budget. That’s $8.7 million less than the original film when it debuted.

In third place was another new film, Murder on the Orient Express which brought in an estimated $28.2 million. That film has a $55 million budget. At the foreign box office the film has earned $57.2 million.

Thor: Ragnarok is the beginning of the holiday movie season and it started out strong with a little over $121 million opening in North America. That’s the seventh largest opening for a Marvel Cinematic film and beat this year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming which opened with $117 million. The film’s debut has pushed Marvel over $13 billion globally and $5 billion domestically.

It was a given this film would debut in first place and A Bad Moms Christmas took second with a $21.5 million five day domestic gross, it opened on Wednesday, and $17 million weekend. Internationally, the film brought in $6.67 million. Last year, the original film opened with $23.8 million and the sequel has an $8 million higher budget and debuted in more theaters, so it’s a slightly worse debut.
