Five Prominent Video Game Composers To Attend Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con, April 29-May 1

Greg Edmonson, Sean Murray, Garry Schyman, Kevin Sherwood, Inon Zur To Meet Fans At Anaheim Comic Con

NEW YORK and ANAHEIM, Calif., April 19, 2011 – Music has been a huge part of video game production for years, and five composers who have created memorable themes and soundtracks for major releases such as “Bioshock,” “Dragon Age,” “Uncharted” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops” will be in attendance at next weekend’s Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con. Greg Edmonson, Sean Murray, Garry Schyman, Kevin Sherwood, and Inon Zur will meet fans, sign autographs throughout the weekend and share some of their experiences in a special panel at the event, set for April 29 – May 1 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The interactive panel and demonstration session with the five will take place on Sunday, May 1, at noon.

Greg Edmonson is perhaps best known for composing the soundtrack to the cult space western TV series “Firefly,” written and directed by Joss Whedon. He is also the composer for the PlayStation 3 blockbuster video game series “Uncharted,” winner of Best Original Music from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Sean Murray has provided the emotional and memorable dramatic musical scores for numerous international films as well as hit television series and blockbuster video games spanning diverse genres from the gothic horror of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and urban action of “True Crime: Streets Of L.A.” to the emotionally intense themes of “Call of Duty: World At War” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops,” the biggest entertainment series in history.

Garry Schyman has emerged as one of the medium’s foremost composers, creator of the music for the multiple award-winning video game “BioShock,” winner of Best Original Score from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, SPIKE TV’s Best Original Video Game Score Award, and G4 TV’s Soundtrack of the Year Award. That success led his being assigned by Electronic Arts to create the hellish, dramatic score for Visceral Games’ adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, “Dante’s Inferno.”

Kevin Sherwood is the composer, musician and sound designer for “Treyarch,” in which he displays his trademark heavy guitars. He wrote the Nazi Zombie songs “Lullaby for a Dead Man,” “The One,” “Beauty of Annihilation,” “115” and “Abracadavre.” Additionally, he wrote several of the “Dead Ops” chip tune songs and is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Inon Zur composes emotionally dynamic music for film, television, anime and video games. His credits include hundreds of episodes of “Escaflowne,” “Digimon” and “Power Rangers” as well as blockbuster videogame franchises such as ”Dragon Age,” “RIFT,” “TERA,” “Prince of Persia,” “EverQuest,” “Lineage,” “Crysis” and “Fallout,” for which he has received award nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and SPIKE TV as well as top honors at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards.

Anaheim Comic Con will bring together thousands of fans of all ages and dozens of celebrities and industry professionals to celebrate the best in pop culture, movies, comics, toys, video gaming, television, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Among the celebrities scheduled to attend are Tricia Helfer, Alaina Huffman, Harry Hamlin, Michael McMillian, John Schneider, Adam West, Burt Ward and Chase Masterson.

Anaheim Comic Con is the fourth stop on Wizard World’s 2011 North American tour, which to date has 13 events scheduled. Hours are Friday, April 29, 5-9 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 1, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.. Tickets are available in advance online at www.wizardworld.com/anaheim.html at a savings over tickets purchased at the door. Advance adult single-day tickets are $25 ($35 on site); three-day weekend tickets are $45 ($55 on site), and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult). ARCHIE’S WEIRD MYSTERIES

City To Be Re-Named: POM Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Pennsylvania

ALTOONA, PA, April 14, 2011- Oscar-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock and his production company Warrior Poets have finalized a deal to purchase the naming rights for the city of Altoona, Pennsylvania, it was announced today. The city’s new name, POM Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, will be effective on April 27, 2011 for 60 days and will be commemorated during a proclamation ceremony to be held at City Hall (130112^th Street) at 1PM that afternoon. The ceremony will be followed by a special screening of Spurlock’s new “doc-buster” film “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” at the Jaffa Shrine on Broad Avenue in the city formerly known as Altoona.

After an exhaustive search, the city of Altoona was selected by Spurlock because it is “a shining example of struggling cities all across America.” The money received by the city for the naming rights will be designated to the City of Altoona Police Department.

Spurlock’s new film “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” is a boundary-pushing exploration of the worlds of product placement, marketing and advertising. The film was fully financed by sponsorship deals documented and arranged by Spurlock throughout the course of the shoot. The film, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, opens in limited release on April 22, 2011 and will expand across the country in the following weeks.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the shifting tide of business in America than by purchasing the naming rights to Altoona.

For the next 60 days, POM Wonderful Presents the Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Pennsylvania will be the most clever example of how an American city is marketing itself today,” Spurlock said.

“Altoona has a rich history and a great story to tell.

Baltimore Comic-Con Adds Top Talent to Growing Guest List

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – April 15, 2011 – The Baltimore Comic-Con is excited to announce the addition of four new red-hot guests to this year’s list of creators. Nick Spencer, Jamal Igle, J.G. Jones, and Cliff Chiang have confirmed that they will be attending the 12^thannual show, taking place the weekend of August 20-21, 2011.

Nick Spencer, who recently signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Comics, has been one of the rising-star writers in comics over the last year. With the announcement of the upcoming Cloak & Dagger series from Marvel, his current work on Iron Man 2.0 and Secret Avengers for the publisher, wrapping up his arc on DC’s T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents and his creator-owned properties, Morning Glories and Infinite Vacation from Image, Spencer is really making his mark on the industry!

After wrapping his 22-issue run on Supergirl with writer Sterling Gates, artist Jamal Igle recently took over the art duties for Zatanna, DC’s Mistress of Magic, with March’s issue #9. Returning for another year, Igle is a fan-favorite in Baltimore!

“Baltimore Comic-Con has quickly become one of my favorite shows to attend,” said Igle. “The fans are fantastic and the show crew really goes out of their way to create a friendly, family-oriented, fun and accessible convention.”

J.G. Jones, best known for the artwork that has graced the covers of such books as Wanted, 52, and Final Crisis, began taking over writing duties this month for DC Comics’ Doc Savage. In addition to the writing, Jones continues to provide stunning cover art for the pulp hero’s monthly adventures, as well as art of the backup features in DC Universe Legacies.

Artist Cliff Chiang also joins us for this year’s show! Recently, Cliff has worked with musician Neil Young on the original graphic novel Greendale for DC’s Vertigo imprint, and his previous work includes runs on Batman, Green Arrow & Black Canary and Wonder Woman.
