Modiphius launches Kickstarter for its 6mm scale miniatures game, Hardwar

Hardwar

Modiphius Entertainment has launched the Kickstarter for its new 6mm scale tactical sci-fi miniatures game, Hardwar.

Available to back until July 31stHardwar is a 6mm-scale miniatures range and game set in the turn of the twenty-second century with fast-paced tactical rules and a hard sci-fi setting full of tanks, mechs and aircraft.

The free Quickplay is also available, streamlining the rules of the upcoming core book and allowing players to try the core mechanics and gameplay before backing the crowdfunding campaign.

The reward tiers are:

  • Soft Assets – £5: rulebook in PDF only
  • Hardbot Pilot – £15: rulebook in hardback and PDF
  • Force Commander – £60: rulebook in hardback and PDF, one set of miniatures of your choice, d12 dice set, and tokens.
  • Corporate Commanders – £120: rulebook in hardback and PDF, two sets of miniatures of your choice, d12 dice set, tokens, and farm life terrain set.
  • Battlefield Commanders – £160: rulebook in hardback and PDF, any 4 sets of miniatures of your choice, d12 dice set, tokens, unit card pack, and farm life terrain set.
  • Hardwar General – £400: All-In Pledge. Rulebook in print and PDF. Every set of miniatures, every accessory, and all 3 terrain sets.

As part of the Kickstarter, the Hardwar rulebook has been fully edited and reformatted into a table-friendly digest-size hardback, introducing solo and co-op rules, and features the Extended Hardware and No Heroes content previously only available in PDF. The miniature sets have all been re-mastered to provide crisper details truer to the original sculpts.

Modiphius has also developed brand-new solo play rules for the game. These will let players take their force, select a mission and then face off against a determined AI force generated as they explore the battlefield. Players will choose from quick skirmishes or open battles, and see their force grow – but should watch out for the AI’s cunning strategies!

In Hardwar, players take on a variety of roles from leading a private security company, commanding corporate forces, a revolutionary rabble, or a marshal protecting farmsteads. They will have access to a range of factions using pre-built units or can create rules for their favourite models with the simple construction system. The game has straightforward rules allowing a mix of classic armoured warfare, with mechs, spacecraft, exotic experimental weapons, cybernetics, sentient combat swarms and ECM.

Originally developed by Strato Minis of Poland, with rules by Krzysztof Raczynski, Rafal Zerych, and Robey Jenkins, Strato Minis Studio was acquired by Modiphius Entertainment in 2024.

From Black Library comes The End and The Death Volume II by Dan Abnett. Many challenges await the Great Angel as he makes his way towards the inner sanctum of the Vengeful Spirit, not least a Warmaster hopped up on the energies of the Warp – and one of the greatest duels in the Horus Heresy canon is about to go down.

The End and The Death Volume II

The Vengeful Spirit Map details the inner workings of the Vengeful Spirit – Horus’ personal flagship – and is a must-have for dedicated Horus Heresy collectors. It is printed on cotton and wrapped in a faux-leather cover that includes its own metallic pendant, so it looks just as good from the outside as it does unfurled.
