Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!
Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in
Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!
Find think below, and what comics you should be looking out for
Absolute Green Arrow #1 (DC Comics) – The series is hotly anticipated and already selling out. This is sure to be another comic that’s not only a solid read but also one whose aftermarket price skyrockets.
Babylon Cove #1 (Mad Cave Studios) – It’s a Hallmark movie mixed with Stephen King… yeah, sounds good to us.
Boxer Volume 13 (IZE Press/Yen Press) – The series has shifted a bit in its focus, but this boxing manga has been about the characters and their motivations.
Dungeon Crawler Carl Volume 1 (Vault Comics) – The popular book series arrives as a graphic novel!
End Of The Arab Of The Future A Youth In The Middle East Volume 1 (Fantagraphics) – Riad Sattouf concludes his graphic memoir series which focuses on adolescence in France during the 90s.
Gender Queer The Annotated Edition (Oni Press) – How quickly before this gets on the banned list too? If you’ve never read this (important) graphic novel, here’s your chance.
Narco #3 (Image Comics) – We’ve really enjoyed this comic about a serial killer and the witness who passes out due to stress. There’s tones of Scream about it with a mix of horror and humor.
Odin #1 (Image Comics) – We’re just hoping for Neo Nazis getting butchered by old gods.
Of The Earth #1 (Image Comics) – A neo-noir tinged eco-horror series described as Blood Simple meets John Carpenter’s The Thing has us sold.
Seven Wives #1 (IDW Publishing/IDW Crime) – The new IDW Crime line kicks off and as fans of crime stories, this is a must for us.
Star Trek The Last Starship #7 (IDW Publishing) – We’ve enjoyed the series that has explored the Federation after The Burn and it’s been interesting so far with a new crew, new ship, and a whole new status quo.
Usagi Yojimbo Kaito ’84 #3 (Dark Horse) – Not a traditional Usagi Yojimbo story, the comic has been a fun heist story more like The Fast and the Furious… and it’s all about family.
