RCCC 2025: Magnetic Press Celebrates at Books With Pictures
Magnetic Press is celebrating over a decade of publishing—and the party continues in Portland. As part of Rose City Comic Con weekend, the Eisner Award–winning publisher will host a special event at Books With Pictures!
The evening is free and open to the public, with food and beverages provided. Fans can discover a showcase of Magnetic’s most acclaimed catalog, including:
- Frontier: A multiple award-nominee, Guillaume Singelin’s sweeping vision of mankind’s future in space is a stunning mix of The Expanse-style hard sci-fi populated by chibi-style characters.
- Carbon & Silicon: From multi-award-nominee comic phenom Mathieu Bablet, this philosophical near-future odyssey follows the world’s first artificial life forms as they witness 300 years of mankind’s ultimate downfall.
- Lost Letters: By celebrated comic book wonderkind Jim Bishop, this multiple award-winner mixes the whimsy of a Miyazaki fantasy with the drama of a boy in search of his missing mother in a bizarre world of talking fish.
- My Dear Pierrot: Also by Jim Bishop, this dramatic fantasy follows a young girl betrothed to a boring Prince, but bewitched by a charismatic wizard who may or may not be using her for his own purposes.
- Midnight Order: A globe-spanning anthology written by award-winner Mathieu Bablet, this collection of tales centers around a secret society of witches dedicated to protecting mankind from hidden horrors. Blending occult intrigue and cutting-edge artistry, this collection presents haunting voices from around the world.
- Tezucomi Vol. 1 & Vol. 2: A bold anthology celebrating the works of the revered mangaka Osamu Tezuka, this two-volume set features creators from across the globe reinterpreting the “God of Manga’s” classic characters and stories in striking modern form.
In addition to these in-store highlights, Magnetic is also celebrating its ongoing partnership with Label 619.
The event’s setting at Books With Pictures underscores the shared values of both organizations. The Portland comic shop is nationally recognized for its mission of inclusivity and representation. Built from the ground up to prioritize diverse voices, the store aims to be the place where every reader can see themselves in a story.
