at the “It’s A Queer, Queer World” panel Friday, April 3 from 7 – 8 pm   Room 211

The Prism Comics Queer Press Grant is an annual financial grant given to an aspiring comics creator to help them publish their work of LGBTQ interest.

Prism will also be presenting three panels on LGBTQ comics and popular media:

It’s A Queer, Queer World – Friday, April 3, 2015, 7 – 8 pm
Anaheim Convention Center Room 211
From marriage equality becoming a reality in state after state to queer performers and sports figures coming out in all corners of popular media, LGBTQ people have made great strides in society at large. Queer people and their relationships are more and more mainstream in the world of comics as well. As yesterday’s radical notions become today’s popular culture, what’s new and cutting-edge in LGBTQ comics? What new responsibilities do comics creators have to themselves and their readers in presenting LGBTQ characters and stories? Join Prism Comics and moderator Tara Madison Avery (Gooch, Prism Comics Board Member) as they explore these and other questions with panelists Marc Andreyko (Batwoman, Wonder Woman ’77), P. Kristen Enos (Web of Lives, Deseo, Prism Comics Board Member), Devin Grayson (Nightwing, USER), Ed Luce (Wuvable Oaf), Sam Saturday (Death’s Door) and Josh Trujillo (Love Machines).  The recipient of the 2015 Prism Comics Queer Press Grant will also be announced at this panel.

Fairy Dust: LGBTQ Disney Fandom – Saturday, April 4, 2015, 7 – 8 pm
Anaheim Convention Center Room 211
Disney is popular around the world.  And Disney characters, films, comics, media and theme parks are especially popular among the LGBTQ community.  Young or old, LGBTQ folk identify with the stories, characters, the fantasy and the imagination. Since you are next door to the “Happiest Place on Earth” join Prism Comics and Disney fans as they explore why the queer community loves all things Disney. Panelists include Dusty Sage (Founder and CEO of MiceChat.com), Tommy Kovac (Skelebunnies, Wonderland), Momma (Anaheim Gay Days; expert on Disney Parks and Disneyana), Jimmy Sherfy (Disney Cosplayer and Animation Enthusiast), Sarah Sterling (Disney Fandom YouTuber, Feminism and Queer Studies Specialist), Joseph Titizian (Disney Historian and Featured Blog Writer) and Barry V (Disney Cosplayer and Animation Enthusiast). Moderated by Ted Abenheim (Prism Comics Board Member).

Queer Imagery in Animation – Sunday, April 5, 2015, 3 – 4 pm
Anaheim Convention Center Room 211
We’ve come a long way from watching Bugs Bunny running around in a dress and planting a kiss on Elmer Fudd.  Join Prism Comics for a panel which will discuss works of animation that tackle same gender attraction and gender identity exploration, such as The Legend of Korra, Bob’s Burgers, Archer, Paranorman and others.  Moderated by P. Kristen Enos (Web Of Lives, Prism Comics Board Member), the panelists will include Diane Anderson-Minshall (The Advocate, Queerly Beloved), Lyn Jensen (http://lynjensen.blogspot.com: Manga, Music, and Politics), Matt Kane (GLAAD), Emily Quinn (Adventure Time, Faking It) and Bradley C. Rader (Bob’s Burgers, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn).
