Robert Kirkman and David Finch announce a new action series Skinbreaker

Skybound and Image Comics have announced the all-new comic book series Skinbreaker from the creative dream team of writer Robert Kirkman, artist David Finch, colorist Annalisa Leoni, and letter Rus Wooton. The visionary action epic unlike anything you’ve ever seen, and perfect for fans of the record-breaking Invincible Universe: Battle Beast, will arrive in comic book shops beginning September 24, 2025.  

Skinbreaker tells the story of a people on the verge of collapse and their fight for survival as the many threats they face close in for the kill. 

Enor has led his tribe for many seasons, but his time as Chieftan is coming to an end. He wields the mighty SKINBREAKER, but at his age, he can barely lift it. Will Enor’s reluctant heir, Anok, take over before their world falls to ruin? As a bloody power struggle begins, an even bigger threat lurks in the darkness beyond their village. 

In addition to the main cover by David Finch, the cover lineup for Skinbreaker #1 includes an open to order portrait variant cover by Finch and incentive variant covers by superstar artists Ryan Ottley, Lorenzo De Felici, Eric Canete, and Tony Moore. Comedian Brian Posehn teams up with Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman to co-write alongside artist Chris Johnson the upcoming time-traveling comedy romp, Rifters. This all-new ongoing series is set to launch in June from Image Comics.

Comics titan Rick Remender’s Giant Generator Studios line of bestsellers will see a number of exciting upcoming releases next year—including a long-anticipated reprint of the Tokyo Ghost hardcover co-created with artist Sean Gordon Murphy—all published by Image Comics. Image has revealed new cover art by Murphy to grace the upcoming Tokyo Ghost hardcover reprint which will land on shelves in April 2023.
