Roddenberry’s Days Missing: Enox Available for Pre-Order Now!

Arcana Comics has announced Roddenberry Entertainment’s FINAL book in the Days Missing trilogy. Days Missing: Enox is now available for pre-order through Diamond Previews. They’ve also released some preview pages of the upcoming comic book.

The book is written by Phil Hester with artwork from Ransom Getty and a cover by Dale Keown himself.

Since before the dawn of man, there has existed an ancient and mystical being known as the Steward, whose interaction with mankind has shaped our history.  His ability to fold time has erased his existence from our memories and extracted the days of which he has been a part from our historical records.  His stories have never been told; his actions never documented. But his influence cannot be denied.

He traveled the seas with Cortez.  He saved humanity from the real Frankenstein.  He averted disaster and made possible one of man’s greatest achievements – going to the moon.  Now, in Days Missing: Enox, the Steward faces his greatest challenge, an immortal enemy of his own making.  Civilization is caught in the crossfire as the Steward and Enox engage in a battle that will forever decide mankind’s fate.  A story so epic, it breaks its own mold, chronicling several consecutive days of our champion’s existence as he is forced to choose between himself and humanity.

Review – Guarding the Globe #3

Guarding the Globe #3Wow, how many ways can I say I just didn’t enjoy this third issue.  It’s also the first of the series I’ve read, but can’t say it was enough that I’d want to go check out the first two issues.  Guarding the Globe #3 doesn’t feature the things I really enjoy about team books, likable characters with a bit of personality conflict, witty banter or a big time threat that makes it clear the world needs them.

As the Viltrumite War rages on within the pages of INVINCIBLE, the Guardians of the Globe are the last line of defense on Earth. New York is under siege, and the Guardians are called in. El Chupacabra is brought along on his first mission, but he’s hiding a dark secret that could tear the team apart! Featuring a special guest-appearance by The Astounding Wolf-Man!

What’s fascinating is with that description, I can’t say that’s what I read at all.  There were characters talking and getting to know each other.  There was a fight against some giant rock monster that I just didn’t see anything but cheesy and then there was the big reveal of the bad guys at the end.  Overall it was a big yawn.

Here I think the story by Robert Kirkman and Benito Cereno flops.  The characters aren’t likable, and the threat just isn’t to a point a team needs to come together.  This was my first issue, but can’t say it gives me much reason to check out the first two.

What If Barack Obama Was a Guardian of the Globe

It started as a mockery of Marvel’s teasers, but Image’s new series Guardians of the Globe will feature a back up story featuring the joke team of Invincible, Spawn, Rick Grimes, Barack Obama, and Gary Popper.

“The response to the Guardians of the Globe teasers was astounding,” says GUARDIANS co-writer Robert Kirkman. “So many people wanted to see a Guardians team made up of Invincible, Spawn, Rick Grimes, Barack Obama, and Gary Popper. Ask, and you will receive!”

Giarrusso states, “I’ll be featuring President Barack Obama in a comic. As far as I know, this is something that has never been done before. A move like this is bound to stir up a lot of heated controversy, but I have the opportunity to do something historically groundbreaking in these strips.”

As the Viltrumite War rages on within the pages of INVINCIBLE, the ranks of the Guardians of the Globe are suddenly depleted. The world is in danger and the team is in search of new blood. It’s the biggest recruitment drive since Omni-Man slaughtered the original members. But will it be in time to stop The Order? This series is a can’t-miss action extravaganza, with one-page backups featuring the Guardians of the Globe that never were: Invincible, Spawn, Rick Grimes, Barack Obama, and Gary Popper!

GUARDIANS OF THE GLOBE #1 (of 6) — a 32-page full-color comic written by Robert Kirkman and Benito Cereno, illustrated by Ransom Getty, and featuring a backup story by Chris Giarrusso — will be on sale for $3.50 on August 25, 2010. Giarusso’s G-MAN, VOL. 1: LEARNING TO FLY, a 96-page full-color trade paperback for $9.99, and G-MAN, VOL. 2: CAPE CRISIS, a 128-page full-color trade paperback, will both be in stores September 29, 2010.
