Pride Month is underway and Vault Comics is not only celebrating it but also addressing the attacks on LGBTQIA+ books and comics across the country. While banning books is nothing new to the world of comics and literature, there has been an unprecedented uptick in new bans across the country as part of the cynical right-wing culture war in hopes of winning elections to enact further draconian policy.
These bans have targeted many queer books and creators. And while politicians and extremist groups may be working hard to erase LGBTQIA+ voices, Vault Comicshas worked to create an inclusive and safe space for those creators. It allows them to be loud, proud, and unapologetic.

Pride is as much of a protest as it is a celebration, an opportunity to shout and laugh and chant together. Vault remembers that in not only celebrating these creators but giving a middle finger to those who attempt to silence them.
With a new Pride Month underway, DC has announced a bunch of initiatives of how they’re celebrating the month and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. DC has announced that it’s partnering with PFLAG National, the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, their parents and families, and allies, to distribute 10,000 copies of DC Pride 2022, an anthology comic featuring stories from LGBTQIA+ creators and focusing on queer characters from the DC universe, to libraries across the U.S. The partnership will give readers even more opportunities to see their stories and experiences reflected in DC’s incredible Super Heroes and Super-Villains.
Beginning on June 7, fans can pick upDC Pride 2022 comes to comic shops on June 7. Subscribers will be able to read it as part of their premium subscription to DC Universe Infinite, DC’s digital comic subscription platform. Also releasing in June are multiple new comic books featuring DC’s characters such as Poison Ivy, Jess Chambers aka Kid Quick, Nubia, DC’s new Queen of the Amazons, and Tim Drake, the third Robin. Young Adult Graphic Novel Galaxy The Prettiest Star, published on May 17, features a brand-new character to DC’s roster of queer characters, and rounds out the set of brand-new publishing titles from DC.
Free to read with registration on DC Universe Infinite beginning June 1 is a selection of DC’s award-winning and fan-favorite titles. The first issue of DC’s GLAAD Media Award-winning Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepus Chronicles along with the first three issues of 2022’s GLAAD Award-winning Crush & Lobo miniseries, DC’s 2021 Pride Anthology, Midnighter & Apollo #1, Far Sector #1 and Aquaman: The Becoming #1.
