Informa Buys MegaCon Orlando

MegaConToday it was officially announced that Informa Exhibitions has added MegaCon Orlando to its Fan Expo HQ portfolio of experiential pop culture exhibitions. Fan Expo HQ, an operating division of Informa Exhibitions is one of the premiere producers of pop culture exhibitions in North America.

FanExpoHQMegaCon, led by the management team of Elizabeth Widera and Christine Algar, is the largest pop culture convention in the South, hosting over 90,000 fans in 2014. For over 23 years this well-respected, fan favorite convention has united sci-fi to comic fans of all ages.

This is the latest consolidation/shrinking of the convention circuit which exploded in recent years and I’d expect more consolidation as the year progresses.

MegaCon Orlando joins Fan Expo Canada, Fan Expo Vancouver, Fan Expo Regina, Fan Expo Dallas, Toronto ComicCon, and Dallas Comic Con under one umbrella.

It’s a new week and there’s a lot coming down the pipeline for the site (trust me, you’ll like it).  I’ve been checking out Heroclix more and probably checking out DC convention synDCon.  Anyone in the DC are play and want to teach me?
