Celebrate 20 Years of Chaos! Comics in May with Dynamite

Dynamite Entertainment has announced that Chaos!, a six-issue miniseries heralding the return of the shared Chaos! Comics universe, will launch its first issue on May 7th, 2014.  Popular horror scribe Tim Seeley will be joined the talented artist Mirka Andolfo in reuniting Evil Ernie, Purgatori, Chastity, and more in the cataclysmic Chaos! Comics 20th Anniversary revival.  Dynamite will offer several cover editions to commemorate the event, including artwork by J. Scott Campbell, Tim Seeley, Emanuela Lupacchino, Charlie Adlard, Carlos Rafael, Ken Haeser, and Michael Turner.

In the upcoming miniseries, several terrifying figures – including the undead Evil Ernie, goddess Purgatori, vampire Chastity, and supernatural band of misfits known as The Omen – individually witness visions of the world’s impending doom, and rush headlong into conflict.  Some try desperately to avert the nuclear holocaust, out of altruism or self-interest, while others just want to raise some hell.  So begins the return of the Chaos! universe on an epic scale, the resurrection of fan-favorite boogeymen and femme fatales amidst a violent, apocalyptic upheaval.

Chaos! #1 will feature a wide selection of cover variants, presented by some of comics’ most talented artists.  The Main Cover will be supplied by J. Scott Campbell.  Variant Cover A will feature the artwork of writer Tim Seeley himself, while Variant Cover B showcases Emanuela Lupacchino.  A Subscription-Only Variant Cover, intended as a reward for dedicated fans who preorder with their local comic shop retailers, will feature the art of Carlos Rafael.  A Blank Authentix Cover will be created for the first issue, featuring blank white space on the cover perfect for convention artist commissions or the creative whims of the do-it-yourself fan.

Additional cover artwork by Charlie Adlard and the late Michael Turner will be featured on special Retailer Incentive Original Art Covers, rewarded to and available from select retailers that meet certain ordering thresholds through Diamond Comic Distributors.

Doctor Spektor by Mark Waid and Neil Edwards in May

Dynamite Entertainment has announced the May 28th release of Doctor Spektor: Master of the Occult #1.  The new comic book series reimagines a classic supernatural detective into a monster-hunting media sensation, courtesy of writer Mark Waid and artist Neil Edwards.  Doctor Spektor will be the fourth release in the publisher’s successful Gold Key line, which includes Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Magnus: Robot Fighter, and Solar: Man of the Atom.

In the new series, Doctor Adam Spektor has spent the past fifteen years travelling the globe, ending the threat posed by werewolves, vampires, ghosts, and other supernatural beings.  Beyond his monster hunting, he has become renowned as a television legend, Wall Street wolf, internet mogul, tabloid bad boy, master metaphysicist, and spiritualist.  Yet his success has brought him no peace.  Some part of him is missing, something he needs, but can’t name.  The Master of the Occult is about to find what’s missing… and in a very unlikely place.

Nancy A. Collins Scripts New Vampirella Series With Artist Patrick Berkenkotter

Dynamite has announced that Nancy A. Collins, the author of Sunglasses After Dark and Vamps, will revive the iconic horror series Vampirella with a #1 issue in June.  Collins will be joined by talented artist Patrick Berkenkotter for the new ongoing series.  Superstar illustrator Terry Dodson will provide the main cover, while a veritable who’s who of industry talent will provide variant collectible covers.

As the debut “Our Lady of Shadows” story arc begins, supernatural heroine Vampirella is sent by the Vatican to investigate the kidnapping of a little girl by the Cult of Chaos… only to become the centerpiece of a ritual invoking Lady Umbra, the sister-bride of Chaos.  Of the fateful repercussions, Collins says, “Vampirella’s life is turned completely upside down, and she finds herself having to team up with the strangest bedfellow imaginable in order to battle both a demonic threat and an elite Vatican hit-squad.”

The series will debut with a variety of cover options, including a Main cover by Terry Dodson, Retailer Incentive covers by Jenny Frison, Sergio Fernandez Davila, Jack Jadson, Mimi Yoon, Ken Haeser, and a Subscription cover by Stephanie Buscema dedicated to those hardcore fans who place preorders with their local comic retailers.  Sergio Fernandez Davila has also created a Retailer Exclusive Variant image that can be tailored to promote individual comic shops.
