October 18-20 sees the return of the 2019 Baltimore Comic-Con to the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center. The Baltimore Comic-Con has announced 2019 guests Katie Cook, Kristina Deak-Linsner, Bob Hall, Jamal Igle, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Erica Schultz. Get tickets online and avoid additional lines upon arrival.

Katie Cook is a comic artist and writer that has been in the industry for a while. She’d list just how long here, but isn’t that a faux pas of admitting that she’s old? I mean you can always Wikipedia her birthday if you want to get stuck on this topic. Why are we still talking about this? She is the creator of the comic Nothing Special on LINE WEBTOON, an all-ages adventure about a girl, a boy with fairy wings, and a dead Radish. It’s her favorite thing and you should read it. Katie also wrote and drew the webcomic Gronk: A Monster’s Story, which lost several awards but is still delightful. In mainstream comics, Katie has carved out quite the little gallery of titles she’s worked on… Did you ever watch that documentary about this fascinating woman in NYC that puts on a bizarre mix of costume jewelry and eclectic clothes every day? Iris? That’s Katie’s career… A little over here at IDW, a little over there at LucasFilm Press, who thought Katie was a good idea for a Sex Criminals cover, oh look now she’s drawing Spider-Man? A mixed bag of adorable all over this place. Katie spent several years as one of the primary writers on IDW’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and has also done projects with Marvel, BOOM! Studios, and more (she apologizes for referring to some of you as “and more”). She’s also illustrated several Star Wars children’s books for Disney LucasFilm Press, and created artwork for the Disney Wonderground Gallery. Artist and writer! Double threat! (She thinks a triple threat in comics would be when someone is also an excellent editor, but any editor that has ever worked with her will attest that she thinks spell-check is something from Harry Potter.) Her mother thinks she is funny. Sometimes. Maybe.

Artist, creative editor, writer, reference model, all-purpose Joe-wrangler at Linsner, and founder of lightisthenewdark art studios, Kristina Deak-Linsner has brought her years of fine art experience in the west coast gallery scene over to the house that Dawn built. After beginning her comics career at Dynamic Forces in the late 90’s, she now uses her keen eye to help guide all Linsner products and projects such as: Sin Boldly, the Dawn and Vampirella crossover series, as well as Linsner’s annual Dawn sketchbooks (2011 to present). The graphic novel Dawn and Vampirella brings her comics career full circle by working with Dynamite/Dynamic Forces once again. In 2018, she worked on the Vampirella series, Roses For The Dead.

Bob Hall had a long association with Marvel Comics, where at one time or another he drew most of the major books and characters such as The Champions, Spider-Man, Dr. Doom, Conan, Thor, The Fantastic Four, The Submariner, Captain America, PSI Force, The Avengers, and The New Mutants. He was the artist for the West Coast Avengers mini-series and was the primary artist on the original Squadron Supreme. He drew movie adaptations of Willow, Dark Man, and the notorious first Captain America movie, as well as pencils and inks for the graphic novel, Emperor Doom. Bob was an editor at Marvel in 1979. For Valiant, he wrote and penciled the monthly series Shadowman, wrote Timewalker, and then created Armed and Dangerous, a black and white “comicbook-noir” series. For DC, he wrote and drew the Batman graphic novel projects Batman DOA, I Joker, and It’s Jokertime. In 2016, he wrote and drew an educational/fantasy about the measles virus for the University of Nebraska called Carnival of Contagion. Jamal Igle began his career in comics at the early age of 17, working as intern at DC while attending the High School of Art and Design. He began penciling full-time in 1993 and his body of work includes lengthy runs on Firestorm, Nightwing, and Supergirl at DC. He served s Vice President of Marketing at Action Lab Entertainment, where he published his Molly Dangerand Venture titles. He has recently provided art for The Wrong Earth and covers for Dragonfly and Dragonflyman at AHOY Comics, art for Noble at Lion Forge, and provided art and writing on the Princeless: Girls Rock / Girls Leadership Anthology from Action Lab Entertainment.

Joseph Michael Linsner is most well-known for his creation Dawn, who first appeared in the self-published Cry for Dawn in 1989 and followed by numerous series at Sirius, He is also the creator of several other characters, including Sinful Suzi in Sin Boldly, released in December 2013 by Image Comics. He has worked on Dawn/Vampirella through Dynamite Entertainment, Justice League Quarterly and Harley Quinn at DC Comics, Killraven, Mystique, and Claws at Marvel Comics, and he drew the cover of the Image Comics one-shot Witchblade/The Punisher #1. Of late Linsner has provided covers for Dynamite Entertainment’s Red Sonja, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, and covers and interiors for Vampirella: Roses for the Dead.

Erica Schultz is an American comic book writer, and editor best known for her work on Xena: Warrior Princess and Charmed, her participation in DC Comics’ first Writers Workshop, and her creator-owned crime series, M3. Her latest work includes Daredevil for Marvel Comics and Twelve Devils Dancing for Action Lab Danger Zone.
