HELL YEAH #1, the debut of a new Image Comics series by Joe Keatinge (GLORY) and Andre Szymanowicz has sold out ahead of its release today, March 7. The issue has immediately gone back to press and a second printing (JAN128123) will be in stores on April 4, the same day that HELL YEAH #2 (FEB120507) is released.
Keatinge made a splash earlier this year, penning the relaunch of Rob Liefeld’s GLORY (drawn by Ross Campbell), but his own series explores superheroics in a different way. The sons and daughters of superheroes, lost in the shadows cast by the glow of their idealized and idolized parents, have grown up to be just like any kids of rich and famous parents — some of them are rebellious, some of them are spoiled, some of them are overachievers with something to prove. And all of them need to save the world.
“I’m very stoked the reception for Hell Yeah has been so intense,” said writer Keatinge. “Andre and I are putting our all into what’s our ultimate passion project. We’re very excited to know there’s an equally passionate readership eager to give it a read.”

GLORY #23 Sells Out, Gets Second Printing
BERKELEY, CA — GLORY, the second title in Image Comics’ hotly anticipated relaunch of their Extreme line, has sold out of issue #23 at the distribution level, before it even arrives on store shelves on February 15. Image has immediately gone back to press and a second printing of GLORY #23 (DEC118223), with a new cover by Ross Campbell, will be in stores on the same day as GLORY #24, March 14.
GLORY #23 marks writer Joe Keatinge’s and artist Ross Campbell’s bold revival of the Rob Liefeld-created superheroine. Glory has returned to Earth — this time, not to save it but to live as a human among humans. And there are two young women there who have been waiting for her.
Keatinge and Campbell bring a euro-comic-meets-indie sensibility to the superhero comic. This sensibility is most visible in the art by Campbell, who is known for his realistic and varied depictions of women in his books Wet Moon and Shadoweyes, but also present in the inclusion of new characters Riley and Gloria, through whom the reader gets to know the god-like warrior princess.

Inspired by the Occupy protests taking place not just in the U.S. but worldwide, a group of comic book creators have banded together to create Occupy Comics. The project is the latest use of Kickstarter but with a twist. The project will see it’s proceeds going directly to purchase items to support the Occupy movement.
All of the writers, artists, business executives, and the publisher are being paid to produce this book… and they ALL are donating 100% of their revenue (not profits, but ALL monies they receive) to the occupiers. They want to support the movement through the winter by providing warm clothes, heaters and bathrooms if possible, and other amenities. As I said, an impressive list.
The project seems to get the heart of the Occupy movement by using crowdsourcing to fund it but also it’s use of social media in a way speaks to the movement. The Occupy movement is leaderless without structure, and Occupy Comics instead of having a “mouth piece” Twitter account, links to a search for their name to show the numerous others speaking about the project.
The project won’t see release until 2012, but the donations will occur this Fall. The gifts are great and for me I’m at least doing the $10 for a digital copy of every comic they release.
