Dahlia In The Dark, the fast-paced, action, fantasy thriller, by Ringo award-winner and Eisner nominated author Joe Corallo and rising star artist Andrea Milana is coming this winter from Mad Cave Studios! To continue the run of new releases focused on the human condition, this season, the all-original mini-series is receiving a 1/100 exclusive variant from visual artist Francine Delgado, available only on the Mad Cave website!

A washed up hitman, Donny Dahlia, takes one last job transporting a package cross country in the hopes of seeing his estranged daughter again. Little does he know this job is going to get him caught in the middle of a war between the fairy realms that could determine the fate of humankind.

With the original cover by Chris Shehan and letters by Micah Myers, Dahlia In The Dark drops Dec. 7th.

Archie Comics brings horror home for the holidays!

Archie Comics is wishing everyone a very scary holiday season with an all-new one-shot comic, Happy Horrordays, hitting store shelves (and stockings) in December! The horror anthology features a return to the world of the hit Archie Horror series Jughead: The Hunger by creators Frank Tieri and Joe Eisma, along with two more tales of yuletide terror bound to keep you up at night hoping that sound on the roof is who you think it is.

Setting up his offering, Tieri said, “In ‘‘Twas the Night Before the Hunger,’ X-Mas turns into an X-Massacre when Jughead finds himself up against none other than a pissed off Krampus one fine Christmas morn. It’s a nice little tale of ho-ho-horror where we may see more than just Christmas cookies and hamburgers getting eaten.” In Tieri’s Jughead: The Hunger series, Jughead is a werewolf, and we were treated to another trip back to that fan-favorite universe in Chilling Adventures Presents… Weirder Mysteries, a sci-fi horror one-shot released in September.

In the second story, inspired by Icelandic folklore by writer Joanne Starer and artist Butch Mapa, a terrifying cryptid teams up with Sheila Wu, a character introduced in the now-classic “New Kids Off the Wall” storyline by Alex Simmons and Dan Parent in 2010.

Rounding out the special holiday issue is a terrifying twist on a staple Archie Christmas character, Sugar Plum, Santa’s fairy helper, by writer Joe Corallo and artist Patrick Piazzalunga.

Happy Horrordays, with colors by Matt Herms and lettering by Jack Morelli, releases December 14 in comic shops nationwide and is available for pre-order now. It will feature a cover by Adam Gorham and an open-to-order variant cover by Archie Horror legend Robert Hack.

Mad Cave Studios has revealed the Mad Cave Studios Legacy Collection featuring four of their flagship titles: Battlecats, Nottingham, Stargazer, and Becstar! Creators Jesse Lonergan, Cully Hamner, Marguerite Sauvage, and Shaenon Garrity, have created all new covers for these low-cost special single issues, outside of their own individual arcs, that tell a greater story about the start of everything for Mad Cave. 

Taking risks to truly make a mark in the industry,  Mad Cave Studios marks these four books as different milestones. Battlecats by Mark London was the inaugural comic that was a medieval fantasy comic. Stargazer, the sci-fi adventure written by talent search winner, Anthony Cleveland, gained critical acclaim. Nottingham, also by two talent search winners David Hazan and Shane Connery Volk, was an unexpected and bonafide hit and continues to sell excellently deep into its run. Then came Becstar, the title that gave Mad Cave Studios the confidence to think outside of the box.

Archie Horror returns with Jinx’s Grim Fairy Tales!

Archie Comics is kickstarting Halloween early with the August release of Chilling Adventures Presents… Jinx’s Grim Fairy Tales. The one-shot anthology features a trio of stories hosted by a grown-up version of the classic Archie character Jinx Holliday, better known as Li’l Jinx, and it leads a full season of new horror releases to be announced in coming weeks. 

The issue opens with a framing story by Magdalene Visaggio and Craig Cermak in which babysitter Jinx keeps her unruly charges in line by sharing some especially grim moralistic fairy tales. Visaggio and Cermak also tell one of those sinister stories, “The True Story of Cantanella.” Li’l Jinx first appeared in Pep Comics #62 by Joe Edwards back in 1946. She earned her nickname by being born on Halloween and kept up an appropriately mischievous spirit in a decades-long comics run.

Writer/actor James III and Eva Cabrera contribute “Suzie & the Monkey’s Paw” to the anthology, which is rounded out by “Will the Real Sorcerer Please Stand Up?” by Joe Corallo and Evan Stanley. 

Jinx’s Grim Fairy Tales releases August 17 in comic shops nationwide, and will boast a cover by Vic Malhotra with an open-to-order variant cover by Archie Horror mainstay Francesco Francavilla.
