Wednesdays are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in!

Each week our contributors are choosing up to five books and why they’re choosing the books. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look!

Top Pick: X-O Manowar #13 (Valiant) – For the first time in 13 issues, Aric is about to unleash the full force of the Manowar armour. After a story that has been about the failure of communication, this is going to be wonderful conclusion. If I could read only one issue this week, it’d be this.

Shadowman #1 (Valiant) – A new number one from my favorite publisher? Frig yeah.

Dark Nights: Metal #6 (DC Comics) – After a few stumbles late in the game, I’m curious to see if Snyder can pull out a homer or if he’s stuck on second base.

Bloodborne #2 (Titan Comics) – I started playing the game this series is based on after reading the comic, so now that I’ve some exposure to the universe I’m looking forward to diving back in.

Top Pick: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25 (BOOM! Studios) –  MMPG #25 launches the “Shattered Grid” storyline which promises both plot and character development. The universe-shifting event promises to blend Rangers old and new, up against a seemingly impossible-to-beat opponent in Lord Drakkon. The team(s) are dealing with a weapon that shatters dimensions, and the rulebook, if there ever was one, is thrown entirely out the window. The dynamic action of the television series has always translated surprisingly well to the page, and as always, it’s the lovable teens at the heart of it all that keep MMPG on my shelf.

Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Coronation #2 (BOOM! Studios) – Everyone has a mother. Even the notorious Goblin King. When she enters the world of the Labyrinth, chasing after her own stolen babe, what will she discover? This prequel series is off to a strong start, expanding the world of the 80s cult classic in natural and exciting ways.

Top Pick: Avengers #686 (Marvel) – “No Surrender” continues and at this point I have no idea where it’s going. This event has delivered and keeps doing so. Even weekly, it has felt like it hasn’t slowed down and that release schedule has only enhanced the experience. Lots of fun and really entertaining.

Abbott #3 (BOOM! Studios) – A fantastic horror story that mixes mystery with a setting of the 1970s Detroit. Great characters. Great setting. The details are fantastic.

Daredevil #600 (Marvel) – It’s a 600th issue! Lets see how “special” this one is.

Mother Panic: Gotham A.D. #1 (DC Comics/DC’s Young Animal) – Though this is a Young Animal series, it’s also one of the best “Bat” books out there. Brutal and entertaining, I can’t wait to see where this new volume goes.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #18 (Marvel) – Marvel has been amazing when it comes to their Star Wars comics and Aphra has stood out from the bunch with its Indiana Jones like kick-ass lead. The fact that Hera Syndulla is in the latest arc has me even more excited about this series.
