A Super-Model Super-Hero!

A SUPER-MODEL SUPER-HERO!

ASPEN COMICS PARTNERS WITH SUPER-MODEL RACHEL CLARK AND HIGH-FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER MICHAEL SCHWARTZ TO CREATE STUNNING PHOTO COVERS FOR IDOLIZED PLUS, ASPEN ANNOUNCES IDOLIZED COVERS FROM ART ADAMS, JOE BENITEZ, KERON GRANT AND MORE!

Aspen Comics is proud to announce that their upcoming new series IDOLIZED will feature a series of covers shot by renowned photographer Michael Schwartz, and featuring supermodel Rachel Clark.  For the exclusive IDOLIZED photo shoot, a special costume was constructed, allowing Ms. Clark to appear as IDOLIZED’s dark and disturbed super-powered protagonist, Joule.

“We’re thrilled to be working with such amazing talent for IDOLIZED”, said Aspen President Frank Mastromauro.  “Rachel and Michael are major names in the fashion industry, and they’ve brought something truly special, unique, and absolutely gorgeous to our covers.” Rachel has been the face of Louis Vuitton, D&G and Victoria’s Secret’s ‘PINK’ line.  She’s appeared in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Vogue, and in ad campaigns for Levis, Louis Vuitton, D&G, Barney’s and Neiman Marcus.  She’s walked the runway for the likes of Christian Dior, John Galliano, Hermes, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, Salvatore Ferragamo and numerous others. Perhaps most importantly, she’s also a total comic book junkie and a major World of Warcraft player.

Michael Schwartz shoots for an amazing list of some of the biggest names in the fashion and entertainment industries, including Victoria’s Secret, Hugo Boss, J Crew, Universal Music, Madewell, Polydor Records and editorial clients such as V Magazine, V Man, Harper’s Bazaar, Dazed & Confused, Dansk, Exit, Metal and now Aspen Comics.

“It was really exciting to bring a drawing to life,” Schwartz raved, “especially with such an amazing model to help make this happen.” The shoot took place on Sunday, January 15th in New York, and nearly 1500 images were taken over the course of the day. In fact, there so many spectacular photos taken, that the Aspen editorial team had a nearly impossible time narrowing them down to just 1 cover image for each issue. “At some point, we may have to collect all of our other favorites and publish them in a book of just the photos,” said Aspen Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez.  “They’re just really, really cool, stunning images and we want to be able to get as many of them out there, in print, as possible.” Of course, each issue of IDOLIZED will be having traditional comic books covers as well, and they’ve got an incredible line-up of some of the biggest names in comics providing those covers, including ART ADAMS, JOE BENITEZ and a painted cover from KERON GRANT.

IDOLIZED is Aspen’s first-ever superhero series, so they’re pulling out all the stops. It tells the story of girl with super-powers and a tortured past, who seeks revenge, and ultimately finds redemption, over the course of competing in a televised super-hero competition show.  Essentially, it’s “True Grit” meets “American Idol” with capes.  The series is written by Michael’s brother David B. Schwartz (acclaimed writer of Image Comics’ “MELTDOWN”, “Aspen Showcase: Ember” and “Fathom: Blue Descent”), with explosive art by Micah Gunnell (“Shrugged”, “Executive Assistant: Orchid”, “Dellec”) and colors by David Curiel (“Executive Assistant: Orchid”).  The first issue will debut in June 2012.

Aspen Comics Offers You The Chance To Be A Superhero In Their Upcoming Series “Idolized”!

Official Press Release

ASPEN COMICS OFFERS YOU THE CHANCE TO BE A SUPERHERO IN THEIR UPCOMING SERIES “IDOLIZED”!

PLUS, WIN ORIGINAL ART AND SIGNED COPIES OF THE SERIES!

First, Aspen Comics offered you the chance to vote on what the characters in their upcoming series “IDOLIZED” would look like.  Now, they’re offering you the chance to actually appear as a character in the series.

“IDOLIZED” is Aspen’s first-ever superhero series.  It tells the story of girl with super-powers and a dark past, who seeks revenge, and ultimately finds redemption, over the course of competing in a televised super-hero competition show.  Essentially, it’s “True Grit” meets “American Idol”…with capes.

Now, you can be drawn into an issue of IDOLIZED as one of the superheroes auditioning to win the coveted title of “Superhero Idol”.

Simply tell Aspen what super-powers you would have if you were a superhero, and why.  Your entry can be purely text, or can include drawings and/or photos of yourself as the super-hero you’d dream of being.  You can enter any time between now and February 13, simply by posting your submission on Facebook.com/IdolizedComic and/or tweeting it with the hash-tag “#Idolized” in your tweet. There’s no limit on the number of entries you can make.

Aspen will choose their five favorite entries, and the fans will then have the chance to vote among those five finalists to choose the ultimate winner.  That winner will be drawn into issue #2 of IDOLIZED, and their name and likeness will appear in multiple panels as they join in a large-scale superhero battle.

And, as if actually being a superhero in a comic book wasn’t enough, the winner will also receive a page of original art that they appear in, and all five of the finalists will receive copies of each issue of IDOLIZED, signed by series writer David B. Schwartz and series artist Micah Gunnell.

“Given the subject matter of IDOLIZED, having a contest like this, and allowing our fans to really interact with and be a part of the series, seemed like a no-brainer,” said Aspen President Frank Mastromauro.  “And, after all, who wouldn’t want to be a super-hero?”

“IDOLIZED is shaping up to be an absolutely mind-blowingly amazing book,” added Aspen Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez. “The story is a blast, the artwork that Micah’s turning in is some of the best art I’ve ever seen, and I think that whoever ends up winning is going to be incredibly proud to have been a part of this series.”

The full rules for the contest are available at http://aspencomics.com/community/default.asp in the IDOLIZED section.

Aspen Comics’ Idolized

Official Press Release

ASPEN COMICS COMPLETES THE CHARACTER DESIGN VOTING FOR “IDOLIZED”, AND REVEALS THE FINAL WINNING DESIGN!

For the first time ever, fans have had a hand in actually creating their comics, as readers got the chance to vote on the look of each of the characters in Aspen’s newest series, “IDOLIZED”, debuting in 2012.  Thousands of votes were cast, many of the races were incredibly close, and the winning designs have now all been revealed.

For each character, “IDOLIZED” artist Micah Gunnell gave Aspen three different ‘looks’ to choose from. But for this series, instead of Aspen selecting among the looks, Aspen decided to open it up to the fans, and let them decide.

In Week Five, the final week of voting, fans had the chance to vote on the designs for TROOPER.  Trooper is a former police officer recovering from a nearly-fatal shooting and seeking to prove himself as a true hero despite his lack of powers.  Fans certainly didn’t have any lack of certainty as to their favorite look for him, though, as the winning design prevailed in a landslide.

“We’re truly thrilled with the incredible amount of attention that this brought to IDOLIZED,” said Aspen President Frank Mastromauro.  “It’s a series that I believe without a doubt readers are absolutely going to love, and I’m so happy that we were able to give our fans a chance to really interact with the series and help have a hand in shaping it.”

And, according to Aspen’s Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez, “we have some even bigger IDOLIZED events happening in the next few weeks.  Stay tuned, and, if you haven’t already, make sure to “like” the IDOLIZED page at www.Facebook.com/IdolizedComic in order to hear the news first, before anywhere else.”

For the first time ever, fans can have a hand in actually creating their comics, as readers get the chance to vote on the look of each of the characters in Aspen’s newest series, “IDOLIZED”, debuting in 2012. For each character, “IDOLIZED” artist Micah Gunnell gives Aspen three different ‘looks’ to choose from. But for this series, instead of Aspen selecting among the looks, they’ve decided to open it up to the fans, and let you decide.

Week Two featured one incredibly close race, and one complete blow-out.  In Week Two, fans had the chance to vote on the designs for two characters: MYTH, a massively powerful but utterly pacifistic super-heroine; and HOCUS, an annoying, wisecracking hero who can make objects appear out of thin air.   With HOCUS, the winning design prevailed in a landslide, but for MYTH a mere 10 vote differential ended up deciding the winner.

Week Three of the voting is now live with two entirely new characters to vote on:  RADIUM and WIRELESS!  Don’t wait – visit www.Facebook.com/IdolizedComic immediately, hit the “Like” button, and then cast your votes and help create the world of “IDOLIZED”!

Each Monday, Aspen will be posting a new set of character designs for readers to vote on.   The following Monday, a new set of characters will be posted, and the voting for the prior week’s characters will be locked.  So, make sure to vote early and often in order to ensure that the characters in “IDOLIZED” look exactly the way you want them to!   And, in order to help make completely sure that your favorites win, spread the word and get all of your friends and followers to vote for your top choice.

Aspen Comics Reveals Idolized Week One Results

Official Press Release

ASPEN COMICS INVITES YOU, THE FAN, TO HELP CREATE THEIR NEW SERIES “IDOLIZED” – WEEK ONE RESULTS AND WEEK TWO CHARACTERS REVEALED!

All of the visual designs Micah’s been cooking up look absolutely amazing, so Aspen fully expected that it would be a tough competition, and in Week One that certainly held true.  In Week One fans had the chance to vote on the designs for two characters, Regenerate and The Present, and, out of the hundreds and hundreds of votes cast, less than 30 votes separated the top design choices from their closest competitors.

Week Two of the voting is now live with two entirely new characters to vote on:  HOCUS and MYTH!  Don’t wait – visit www.Facebook.com/IdolizedComic immediately and cast your vote for your favorite design choices.
