Tickets for Baltimore Comic Con’s All-Star Reception Are Going Fast!

Baltimore Comic Con set out a reminder notice that this year’s All-Star Reception taking place on the eve of this year’s Baltimore Comic-Con, Friday September 6 at 8pm is selling quickly. The convention has put together an amazing and growing lineup of some of comics’ biggest names to make this event the perfect way to kick off the best weekend in comics!

Here’s just a few of the great creators who will be taking part: Mike Carey, Mark Waid, Paul Jenkins, Bill Willingham, Barry Kitson, Mark Buckingham, Walter Simonson, Louise Simonson, Stan Sakai, Jimmy Cheung and George Perez!

This three-hour event will include a private panel discussion and a meet-and-greet with many guests available to sign an item or two! So, don’t forget your Sharpie!

And to make the evening even more special, the convention has added even more goodies including:

  • AN AUTOGRAPHED STAN LEE ITEM – Baltimore Comic Con and Stan feel terrible that he couldn’t make it to this year’s show and they wanted to make sure there’s still a way for people to get their hands on something autographed by “The Man” himself.

Awesome Con 2014 Update – Guest Announcements!

With a successful Kickstarter campaign behind it, with over $56,000 raised, Awesome Con is gearing up for a solid second convention in 2014.

Guests are already lining up for next year’s convention. Along with George Pérez, Ben Templesmith, and Justin Jordan, here are a few more guests the convention has added:

  • Melissa McBride, best known as Carol from AMC’s The Walking Dead 
  • IronE Singleton, best known as T-Dog from AMC’s The Walking Dead
  • Rob Paulsen, famed voice actor, known as Pinky, Yakko, Raphael (old TMNT), Donatello (new TMNT), Carl Wheezer, and like a zillion million more voices.
  • Nicholas Brendon, returning from last year, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Criminal Minds.

With the announcement last week that Stan Lee will be at the Baltimore Comic-Con, expanded ticket options are now available for the show.  Online ticket sales are now open for the All-Star Baltimore Comic-Con Reception and Panel, the Stan Lee Excelsior Package, and Baltimore Comic-Con VIP tickets.  In addition, weekend and daily general admission tickets are now on sale for the 14th Annual Baltimore Comic-Con, taking place September 7-8, 2013.

The Stan Lee Excelsior Package will include:

  • a Stan Lee Autograph,
  • a Professional photo-op including 8×10 photo with Stan,
  • a Stan Lee “Fast Pass” for additional autographs and photos, and
  • an Exclusive commemorative item which will be announced closer to the show.

Mark Buckingham, Dave Gibbons, Adam Hughes, Paul Levitz, George Perez, Walter Simonson, Louise Simonson, and Allison Sohn will all be attending their 14th Annual show!

Mark Buckingham, who is best-known and most-celebrated for his work on the long-running Vertigo title Fables, began his career in 1990 working with Neil Gaiman on Miracleman from Eclipse Comics. Working on such titles as 2000 AD, Hellblazer, and Shade, the Changing Man, he became a mainstay at DC Comics after taking over art duties on Fables with issue #6. His run on the popular imprint title has earned him four Eisner Awards, including Best New Series in 2003, Best Serialized Story in 2005 and 2006, and Best Artist/Penciler/Inker in 2007.Gibbons Watchmen 1

Legendary artist Dave Gibbons is best known for his collaboration with Alan Moore on the seminal mini-series, Watchmen. With a career that spans more than four decades, Gibbons has provided artowrk for 2000 AD, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Dark Horse Comics, and has worked with such characters as Judge Dredd, Captain America, Superman and Batman. He is currently working on The Secret Service with Mark Millar though Marvel’s Icon imprint.Hughes Fairest

As far as cover artists working in comics today, Adam Hughes is among the very best. A 12-year veteran of Gaijin Studios, Hughes is most widely recognized for his pin-up style renditions of female characters, especially over the course of his long runs as cover artist on Wonder Woman and Catwoman. His most recent work includes the Before Watchmen mini-series, Dr. Manhattan. Hughes won the Harvey Award for Best Cover Artist in 2001, 2002, and 2003.

Paul Levitz has been a mainstay at DC Perez Levitz World's FinestComics since 1972, serving as a writer, editor, and President (2002 – 2009) over the tenure of his career. His name is synonymous with the Legion of Super-Heroes, which he wrote from 1977-1979 and 1981-1989, and he created such notable characters as the Stalker, the Earth-2 Huntress, and Lucien the Librarian. Levitz has since returned to writing the Legion of Super-Heroes for the New 52, as well as the Earth-2 centric book, World’s Finest.

Writer/artist George Perez established himself as a fan-favorite creator during his lengthy runs on Marvel Comics’ Avengers, and DC Comics’ Teen Titans and Wonder Woman. Over the course of his 40-year career, Perez has drawn nearly every character in both the Marvel and DC Universes, and has worked on such ground breaking events as the Infinity Gauntlet, JLA/Avengers, and Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds. In 2011, he reunited with long-time collaborator Marv Wolfman to publish the long-awaited New Teen Titans: Games graphic novel. Walter Simonson is best known for his run on The Mighty Thor throughout the 1980s. His classic run was recently collected by Marvel in The Mighty Thor Omnibus by Walter Simonson, a massive tome which featured issues #337-355, #357-369, and #371-382, as well as the mini-series, Balder the Brave #1-4. In addition to his work on Thor, Simonson has worked on such titles as Detective Comics, Avengers, and Marvel’s Star Wars comics. In 2010, Simonson received the Hero Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented at the Harvey Awards.

Sohn sketch cardLouise Simonson began her career in as an editor in 1974 before moving on to writing for Marvel Comics in 1984. She is best known for her work on Power Pack, X-Factor, New Mutants, and Superman: The Man of Steel. In addition to comics, Simonson is an accomplished novelist, having published 14 books between 1993 and 2009.

Sketch card artist Allison Sohn’s work has been showcased in several trading card sets, including: Star Wars Galaxy Series 4 and 5 and the Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection; Women of Marvel; Indiana Jones Heritage; Lord of the Rings Masterpieces, Series 1 and 2; and the Red Sonja 35th Anniversary. In addition, she provided the exclusive artwork for both Star Wars Celebration IV and V. In 2011, Sohn was the feature of a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International called Comic-Con How-To: Sketching with Allison Sohn, in which she demonstrated her craft using Copic markers.

The announcement follows the recent news that one of Hollywood’s fastest-risers, Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers), will headline Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on June 2.

The longest-running and highest-attended show annually on the Wizard World calendar, 2012 Wizard World Chicago Comic Con will also feature movie and television stars such as Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries,” CHLOE), Kate Mulgrew (“Star Trek: Voyager,” Remo Williams), Bruce Campbell (Army Of Darkness, Evil Dead), Tom Felton (Harry Potter, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Amy Acker (“Angel,” The Cabin In The Woods) and dozens of others.

Eight Eisner Award Winners and Nominees, Including Hall Of Famer Stan Lee, To Attend Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, January 28-29

Stan Lee Plus Three Eisner Winners Among 170+ Top Creators At New Orleans Comic Con

NEW YORK and NEW ORLEANS, January 18, 2012 – A total of eight Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards winners and nominees, including Hall of Famer Stan Lee, are among the more than 170 comic creators scheduled to attend Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, January 28-29 at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  Lee, who co-created Spider-Man, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, and dozens of other classic and world-famous characters, will be joined by Eisner winners George Pérez (“Superman,” “JSA”), Rob Guillory (“Chew”) and John Layman (“Chew,” “Puffed”).

The four Eisner Award nominees scheduled to attend are John Dell (“Ultimate Spider-Man,” “X-Men”), Joe Eisma (“Morning Glories,” “Existence 3.0”), Jesus Merino (“Avengers Forever,” “Superman/Batman”) and Alex Saviuk (“Spider-Man Newspaper Strip,” “The X-Files”).

The creators will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and sketch.  Many Greater New Orleans and Louisiana-based artists will be in attendance as well.

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comic book industry. Established in 1987, they are named for renowned cartoonist Will Eisner (creator of “The Spirit” and several award-winning graphic novels).

Other superstar creators scheduled to attend include Tyler Kirkham (“Green Lantern Corps,” “Amazing Spider-Man”), Barry Kitson (“Uncanny X-Force,” “Iron Man”), Greg Horn (“Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark,” “X-Force”), Mike McKone (“Avengers,” “Fantastic Four”), Michael Golden (“Batman,” “Spider-Man”), Clayburn Moore (The CS Moore Studio Ltd.), Norm Breyfogle (“Batman Beyond,” “Life with Archie”), “Zombie King” Arthur Suydam (“Marvel Zombies,” “Army of Darkness”) and Scott Clark (“Batman Inc.,” “Brightest Day”).

New Orleans Comic Con will also feature popular celebrities such as William Shatner, Adam Baldwin, Mary McDonnell, James Marsters and Michael Biehn.

New Orleans Comic Con is the first stop on Wizard World’s 2012 North American tour.  Hours are Saturday, January 28, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, January 29, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance online at http://www.wizardworldcomiccon.com/neworleans.html at a savings over tickets purchased at the door.  Advance adult single-day tickets are priced at $30 ($40 on site); weekend all-session tickets are $45 ($55 on site), and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult).  VIP packages with special entry and exclusive items are also available on a limited basis.
