All Time Comics Returns with the 5-part Epic: Zerosis Deathscape

All Time Comics returns for a second season with new publisher, Floating World Comics! 

New series writer, Josh Simmons, scripts Zerosis Deathscape, an epic 5-part event co-written by ATC mastermind, Josh Bayer. Each monthly issue is drawn by Bronze Age maverick, Trevor Von Eeden.

Von Eeden’s unique and powerful style has developed a cult following among genre and underground cartoonists, who celebrate his run on Thriller and his early DC career drawing Batman, Green Arrow, and Black Lightning. He is joined on art duties by indie cartoonists Gabrielle Bell, Julia Gfrörer, Benjamin Marra, and Tom Toye, and colorist Daniel Lee.

The series is about space and time meeting anti-time and alternate-space combining Bronze Age adventure genre comics with other comic styles. The massive superhero crossover hearkens to other classic cosmic event comics and brings together all the characters established in season 1 of All Time Comics.

Zerosis Deathscape begins monthly in June and is preceded by a special prologue issue, All Time Comics #0 in April. Written and illustrated by Josh Simmons, with inks by Ken Landgraf, this zero issue is the perfect intro to the new wave of ATC. Features the first appearance of The Red Maniac, and we meet Time Scientist Vampire, who foretells the devastating power of Zerosis!

All six issues of All Time Comics Season 1 are finally collected in a massive 240 page trade paperback, coming this June from Floating World Comics.

Crime Destroyer – will fight for justice or die trying!

These four heroes face an over-the-top lineup of villains including The Misogynist, Raingod, White Warlock, Krimson Kross, P.S.Y.C.H.O., and the Time Vampire.

All Time Comics features the work of current indie comics creators like Josh Bayer, Benjamin Marra, and Noah Van Sciver, alongside the work of established artists like Al Milgrom and the last art by legendary artist Herb Trimpe, co-creator of Wolverine.

This November Floating World Comics will host an art exhibit and book signing with Anders Nilsen to celebrate the release of his new book, Tongues Number Two.

The second issue of Tongues draws readers deeper into the enigmatic, interconnected stories of a god imprisoned on a mountainside, an eagle – his apparent jailor, and a young American wandering into trouble in the wilderness with a teddy bear. We also move back in time to watch our young East African protagonist as she experiences violent and peculiar visions of her frightening near future, and meet a handsome, malevolent young swan with dark appetites. Tongues is part adventure and part meditation on humanity’s fraught present moment and its peculiar evolutionary heritage.

The book itself is as much an unfolding object as it is a story, featuring full color, a large format, and intricate design. The artist is serializing the book in conjunction with publisher No Miracles in 10 issues over the next few years.

Reid Psaltis’ Kingdom/Order Gets a Release Party this September at Floating World Comics

Join Reid Psaltis on Thursday, September 6 to celebrate the release of his new graphic novel Kingdom/Order. In addition to a signing, Reid will also have gorgeous original art from the book on display.

Kingdom/Order wordlessly follows a man as he searches for some sort of meaning in his life. Through symbols and sounds, it is clear that he is a part of the greater, natural world, and a bit divorced from the modern world which surrounds him. The nameless protagonist finds himself following the sounds of the animals around him – but how much of this is real, and how much is delusion?

Whatever the case, Psaltis will leave you speechless.

Floating World Comics’ Proxima Centauri & It Will All Hurt Release Party with Farel Dalrymple – June 13th

Head to Floating World Comics and join Farel Dalrymple on Wednesday, June 13 to celebrate the release of – not one – but two new books that expand the ever growing world of Pop Gun War and The Wrenchies.

First is the debut issue of a brand new miniseries from Image Comics: Proxima Centauri. 4.243 light-years from Earth, the teenage wizard adventurer Sherwood Breadcoat is stuck in the confounding spectral zone on the manufactured dimensional sphere, Proxima Centauri, looking for escape and a way back to his brother while dealing with his confusing emotions, alien creatures, and all sorts of unknown, fantastic dangers. In this issue The Scientist H. Duke sends Sherwood on a salvage mission and gives counsel to the troubled boy in his charge.Proxima Centauri will be six issues of PSYCHEDELIC SCIENCE FANTASY ACTION COMIC BOOK DRAMA starring Sherwood Breadcoat, “The Scientist” Duke Herzog, Dr. EXT the Time Traveler, the ghost M. Binoculars Release Party and Art Exhibit with Tetsunori Tawaraya May 3rd

Tetsunori Tawaraya’s Binoculars is a collection of creatures from another dimension, which display the jewel-like rendering of Tawaraya’s stipple technique.

The visions, and color mixture vary widely from his previous book Telescope, also published by Colour Code. Tawaraya has been lucky enough to watch an enigmatic outland through his mind’s binoculars. Let’s set off on an expedition and observe them all for vivid side effects.

Floating World is the last stop on Tetsunori’s west coast tour, with an art exhibit to celebrate the release of this awesome new book.

Carnet de Voyage Book Release & Artist Talk with Craig Thompson on April 28

Join Craig Thompson to celebrate the release of a new expanded edition of Carnet de Voyage, a unique insight into an acclaimed cartoonist’s travels through Europe and Morocco.

Riding the international success of Blankets, Craig Thompson sets out on a tour across Europe and Morocco, promoting the various European editions of his book and beginning research for his next graphic novel, Habibi. Carnet de Voyage is a gorgeous sketchbook diary of his travels as he finds intellectual and spiritual stimulation during the day-to-day work of being an author. From wandering around Paris and Barcelona between events, to navigating markets in Fez and fleeing tourist traps in Marrakesh, we see glimpses of each place, rendered in Thompson’s exquisite ink line.

While desert landscapes and crowded street scenes flow across the pages, the sketchbook is packed first and foremost with people—travelers passing through, the friends and lovers he meets along the way, distant figures of old friends and other cartoonists who freely weave in and out of his subconscious. This expanded edition also includes a new epilogue drawn from his most recent European book tour, including several familiar faces and Thompson’s reflections on keeping a sketchbook. Carnet de Voyage is a casual yet intimate portrait of a celebrated cartoonist at a moment between works—surprisingly open and candid in his observations and revelations.

Orange Thief is a compilation of images pulled from Sophie’s voluminous collection of sketchbooks. Doodles! Hedge mazes! Half-assed ripoffs of famous paintings! Kermit! Cowboys! More cowboys! Horse-faced men! Man-faced horses! All of these (and more!!!) can be found between the covers of this little sketchbook collection.

Feb. 13 – Is This Guy For Real? The Unbelievable Andy Kaufman Book Release Party with Box Brown

Comedian and performer Andy Kaufman’s resume was impressive—a popular role on the beloved sitcom Taxi, a high-profile stand-up career, and a surprisingly successful stint in professional wrestling.

Although he was by all accounts a sensitive and thoughtful person, he’s ironically best remembered for his various contemptible personas, which were so committed and so convincing that all but his closest family and friends were completely taken in.

Why would someone so gentle-natured and sensitive build an entire career seeking the hatred of his audience? What drives a performer to solicit that reaction? With the same nuance and sympathy with which he approached Andre the Giant in his 2014 biography, graphic novelist Box Brown takes on the complex and often hilarious life of Andy Kaufman in Is This Guy For Real?.

I Am Not Okay With This release party with Charles Forsman December 7

Charles Forsman‘s west coast tour brings him to Floating World this December to celebrate the release of his new book, I Am Not Okay With This.

Sydney seems like a normal, rudderless 15-year-old freshman. She hangs out underneath the bleachers, listens to music in her friend’s car, and gets into arguments with her annoying little brother — but she also has a few secrets she’s only shared in her diary. Like how she’s in love with her best friend Dina, the bizarre death of her war veteran father, and those painful telekinetic powers that keep popping up at the most inopportune times.

After his first two critically heralded graphic novels, Celebrated Summer and The End of the Fucking World (recently adapted into a TV show on the UK’s Channel 4 and soon to be streaming stateside on Netflix), Forsman once again expertly channels the teenage ethos in a style that evokes classic comic strips while telling a powerful story about the intense, and sometimes violent, tug of war between trauma and control. I Am Not Okay With This collects all of Forsman’s self-published minicomic series into one volume. It comments naturally on familial strain, sexual confusion, and PTSD in his usual straightfaced-but-humorous style, and firmly stakes his place among the world’s best young cartoonists.
