Comikaze Presents Pre-Release Party for Save the Pearls

Official Press Release

Comikaze Expo Presents Presents Pre-Release Party For Victoria Foyt’s Groundbreaking YA Novel, Save the Pearls Part One REVEALING EDEN
Cutting Edge Pop Culture Expo Secures Appearance and Book Signing by Victoria Foyt and the Launch of The Book’s Revolutionary Marketing Campaign

Los Angeles, Calif.,
(October 2011) – Comikaze Expo, the largest multimedia pop culture, comic book, horror, anime and gaming convention in California, aka the Los Angeles Comic-Con, has announced that it will host an early book release party and signing for author/actress Victoria Foyt’s groundbreaking YA novel, Save the Pearls Part One REVEALING EDEN. This premiere appearance includes a slate of fun activities and is just one of many exclusive events that Comikaze has lined up for this one-of-a-kind expo taking place on November 5-6, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Foyt’s participation at Comikaze will feature elements of the book’s creative and ingenious marketing campaign, which includes a social networking site, SavethePearls.com, for “dating and mating,” where users can submit videos, read blog posts from the protagonist and watch cutting-edge teasers for the book. The Save the Pearls booth at Comikaze will include face makeup for fans and readers to participate in making video profiles to be included in this cutting-edge campaign, along with contests to win free books, posters and more.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of helping to promote literary history,” says Comikaze CEO, Regina Carpinelli. “All the best movies and franchises start off as great novels, and Victoria Foyt’s new novel is definitely poised to be one of the greats.”

In Save the Pearls Part One REVEALING EDEN, Foyt examines the themes of beauty, racism and the deteriorating environment in an entertaining fantasy/sci-fi plot with a romantic love story at its core. This release marks Foyt’s second YA novel. Foyt said of her new book: “I set out to write a futuristic beauty and the beast story and ended up tapping into deep-seated fears and fantasies of my own. I believe the themes of racism and beauty, while seemingly harsh, are universal and hopefully, enlightening.”

Foyt’s first young adult novel, The Virtual Life of Lexie Diamond, garnered rave reviews and was recommended by the Center for Children’s Books. In addition, it earned a five-star, “must-read” rating from TeansReadToo.com. The success of this coming-of-age, mystery young adult novel inspired Foyt to write the Save the Pearls series. Foyt’s career also includes co-writing several critically acclaimed feature films, Going Shopping (2005), Déjà Vu (1997), Last Summer in the Hamptons (1995), and Babyfever (1994).

Comikaze will kick off with appearances by the father of modern comics, Stan Lee, and Comikaze’s official “Spooksperson,” horror icon Elvira, at the event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. Elvira’s participation marks her official last convention appearance ever. Other appearances include the cast of All That!, Cracked.com and a slew of other celebrity icons.

The first and only multimedia, cross-genre expo to hit Los Angeles, Comikaze Expo has created a pop culture extravaganza that brings together the best in comics, gaming, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, anime and all other cult programming. Its wide-ranging appeal has attracted celebrity appearances from icons and budding artists of this exciting world, including animators, comic book and anime artists, special effects teams, writers, actors, and filmmakers, among other creators, from both the mainstream and geek worlds.

This unparalleled event’s wide range of innovative programming and activities provide fans access to their favorite artists and creators. From independent film screenings, live shows and star-studded panels to fan contests, games, portfolio reviews and a masquerade ball, there is something for everyone and more at Comikaze. Family-oriented events are scheduled for Sunday, November 6.

In an effort to make Comikaze accessible to everyone, tickets are only $12 each, and children under 12 are FREE, making this family event the largest convention of its kind in Los Angeles—at the best price. Each ticket holder will receive their choice of a celebrity lithograph photo valued at $79-$189. Elvira Makes Final Appearance at Comikaze Expo

Official Press Release

Comikaze Expo Presents Horror Icon Elvira’s Farewell Convention Appearance
The Los Angeles Comic-Con and Premiere Horror, Pop Culture, Gaming and Anime Event
in Los Angeles To Host The Mistress of the Dark’s Final Convention Appearance

Los Angeles, Calif.,
(October 2011) – Comikaze Expo, the largest multimedia pop culture, comic book, horror, anime and gaming convention in California, aka the Los Angeles Comic-Con, has announced it will host horror icon Elvira’s last convention appearance in its premiere event taking place on November 5-6, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Comikaze Expo’s official “Spooksperson,” Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, will sign autographs, pose for photos with fans and take part in various events throughout the Expo.

Elvira became a household name with Elvira’s Movie Macabre, the first nationally syndicated horror movie show. The weekly series featured the sexy, outrageous movie hostess’ sharp wit and clever banter throughout her tongue-in-cheek commentary of B-movie classics. Her reign as ‘Queen of Halloween’ spans three decades and includes two feature films, her long-running series and two motion control rides. Her appearance at Comikaze Expo honors the event’s commitment to horror fans and promises a memorable experience for all.

“It’s about time all of my boob-tube fans who’ve never been lucky enough to say hi in person come out to meet me,” said Elvira. “This will be everybody’s last chance to see this busty, beehived broad in the flesh (and not much else!), so jump on that Red Line and head to the L.A. Convention Center, darling. As the hostess with the mostest, I’m gonna bring a little class to this event if it’s the last thing I do. Oh yeah, it IS the last thing I’ll do. Whatever.”

“We are beyond thrilled and overwhelmed that Elvira is our official ‘Spooksperson’ and is making her final convention appearance right here in L.A., where it all started for her,” says Comikaze Expo CEO Regina Carpinelli. “Since she burst onto the horror scene, she’s been a pop culture pioneer, and is a gorgeous, brilliantly funny woman who never disappoints her fans. It’s an incredible honor to have her be a part of Comikaze.” Carpinelli is encouraging fans to dress like Elvira at Comikaze in honor of the star’s final convention appearance.

Comikaze will kick off with an appearance by the father of modern comics, Stan Lee, at the event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. Comikaze Presents Live Table Reading by Cracked.com

Official Press Release

Comikaze Expo Presents the First Ever “After Hours” Live Table Read by Cracked.com’s Acclaimed Cast and Writers
Leading Digital Entertainment Brand to Present Three Exclusive Panel Events at Cutting-Edge Pop Culture Expo With Strong Focus on Comics, Horror, Sci-Fi, Anime and Gaming
Los Angeles, Calif., (September 2011) – Comikaze Expo, the largest multimedia pop culture, comic book, horror, anime and gaming convention in California, has announced it will host a series of panel events with award-winning online entertainment destination Cracked.com, including the first ever public table read by the cast and creators of the hit web series “After Hours.” This premiere experience is just one of many exciting panels and crazy events that Comikaze has lined up for this one-of-a-kind expo taking place on November 5-6, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Cracked.com’s “After Hours” cast and crew, including Jack O’Brien, Daniel O’Brien, Michael Swaim, Soren Bowie, Katie Willert, Cody Johnston and director Justin Viar, invite members to experience and participate in “The Making of ‘After Hours:’ How a Conversation Becomes an Episode.” Mixing pop culture observations, limitless non sequiturs and weigh-in from the crowd, the evening will result in an inside look at series development, a screening of a not-yet-released episode and live commentary from the Cracked team.
In addition to this exciting After Hours panel, the Cracked.com team will be joined by members from three up-and-coming comedy troupes to host the panel “Comedy Troupes Are the New Rock Stars.” For kids growing up in the 70s and 80s, starting a garage band was the “cool” thing to do. Today, the successes of comedy ensembles including Lonely Island and Derrick Comedy have made comedy troupes the single most important creative collective. The “Comedy Troupes Are the New Rock Stars” panel will discuss how comedy ensembles are shaping culture and pushing the boundaries of the entertainment industry.
To complete their stunning trifecta at Comikaze, the Cracked.com team will bring their entertaining pop culture commentary to the stage with a performance of the sketch comedy showcase “Cracked LIVE: The 6 Most Bafflingly Hilarious Things Happening in Front of You (Right Now)!” Cracked LIVE! features performances by fan-favorite Cracked.com personalities, short comedy skits, stand-up, and completely tolerable amounts of music.
Comikaze Expo is thrilled to host Cracked’s team of culture pundits – and the feeling is mutual. “I’m thrilled to be such a big part of Comikaze this year, most especially because they’re letting us do whatever we darn well want to,” said Michael Swaim, head of video, Cracked.com. “It’s an ethos I know the fans appreciate, and we certainly do, too. I can’t wait to show LA’s comic and pop culture fans all the weird wonders we’ve got lying in wait.”

Others from After Hours were equally enthusiastic. “Finally, I’ll have a place in Los Angeles where I can talk incessantly about comics and nerd stuff without bothering the staff at Hi De Ho Comics,” said Dan O’Brien, senior writer, Cracked.com. “I can’t wait to spend an entire weekend briefly celebrating Cracked and then passionately arguing about whether or not Miles Morales will make a good Spider-man.” Soren Bowie, editor/columnist, Cracked.com added, “Following this, Thanksgiving will almost certainly be a letdown. And I love Thanksgiving.”

Comikaze’s creators expect 60,000 attendees and more than 300 vendors. The show will kick off with appearances by the father of modern comics, Stan Lee, and Comikaze’s official “Spooksperson,” horror icon Elvira, at the event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This unparalleled event’s wide range of innovative programming and activities provide fans access to their favorite artists and creators.
