Gotham premieres Monday September 22 on FOX.
Gotham premieres Monday September 22 on FOX.
Every other Monday this summer, the Man at Arms team of blacksmiths and craftsman will be taking some of your favorite characters and items to mash up into brand new hybrid weapons that you’ve never seen before. This week, they mashed together Batman’s batarangs with Wolverine’s claws!
The long-awaited companion piece to last year’s #1 selling Adam West Batman figure from the 1966 Batman TV series has arrived! NECA has revealed a brand new 1/4 scale rendition of Burt Ward as Robin.
For close to 50 years the Batman TV show has delighted audiences, and this fall for the first time ever the complete series will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray! To celebrate this monumental event we have created this 17″ tall poseable figure of the Boy Wonder featuring Burt Ward’s likeness.
Robin comes with a fabric cape, 6 interchangeable hands, Batarang, communicator, and more. Super-poseable and loaded with detail, this Robin is a must-have for fans of the classic Batman series.
NECA has revealed that this figure is limited to one production run only, so get it while you can. The figure will be released in November.
How would you like some metal mixed with your Batman? If you’re not into loud metal music, you might want to turn down the volume while watching this fun animated video featuring Batman and family (and villains).
New news is good news!
Are you rich? Do you like expensive toys? Are you Bruce Wayne? Then this is the item for you! Hot Toys has released more detailed info on their 1/12th scale The Bat Collectible Sets. Available in two flavours, “normal” and Deluxe, The Bat comes loaded with some cool features and accessories all scaled to the 6 inch figures.
The normal set includes:
The Deluxe set includes:
While I’m not the biggest fan of The Dark Knight Rises (easily the weakest of the 3), these sets are pretty cool. The regular set will run ya $690, while the Deluxe comes in at a cool $780. Start saving your pennies bat-fans! Pre-orders are up at Sideshow Collectibles.
In another baffling move from Hasbro, another Walgreens exclusive has been announced. This time you’ll be heading to a pharmacy to buy a Star Wars Black Series Prototype Boba Fett. A repaint of the original release, this time deco’d in his white prototype armour. He’ll be avialble this fall and can be pre-ordered at SDCC if you live no where near a Walgreens. Both completely viable options for your’s truly, a dweller North beyond the boarder.
Sideshow has yet another piece of awesome up their sleeve, with the Dr. Doom Premium Format Figure. Measuring just under two feet tall on the base, and featuring interchangeable classic and modern versions of his mask, a fabric costume, and armored battle-suit. The Exclusive edition of includes an additional swap-out hand armed with a cosmic ray gun.
Both versions are priced at $389.99. Pre-orders start June 26th a Sideshow Collectibles.
And finally……”Get away from her you b@#%h!” and get onto my shelf! NECA has finally take the wraps of the long awaited Queen Alien, and it’s a doozy.
From NECA:
In honor of the 35th Anniversary of the Alien franchise, we’ve created our most massive and most ambitious Aliens figure ever! The terrifying Xenomorph Queen is based on her appearance in the 1986 Aliens film. She stands over 15″ tall and is over 30″ long, with over 30 points of articulation, including a spectacular poseable tail. Bring some of the movie’s most thrilling scenes to life in realistic detail, because the Queen is completely in scale with our current Alien action figure line. Includes a display stand and two different interchangeable inner mouths.
I. WANT. THIS. NOW. I have the old McFarlane Queen and this one blows it out of the water. The sculpt, the paint, articulation, and scale are leaps and bounds ahead of anything that has come before. I want to go and buy more Aliens so I can have a sufficient brood for their Queen arrives this fall.

When it rains, it pours. Never enough hours in the day. Here’s a few toy items making the rounds:
For some unholy reason, Hasbro has decided to make this amazing Agent Venom, that we’ve been waiting a year to see where it would release, is finally seeing the light of day…….exclusively at Walgreens. What’s a Walgreens? Is this some type of new toy store I don’t know about because I live in Canada? Last I heard Walgreens was a pharmacy! Why? Why Hasbro? Why? This forces me into the murky waters of the 2nd market to get a figure I really want and pay the inevitable mark-up. Why? Why Hasbro? Why? You can pre-order Agent Venom at the Hasbro booth at SDCC in July. Or randomly drop into a Walgreens when getting a prescription because KNOW ONE GOES TO WALGREENS LOOKING FOR TOYS!
Kotobukiya will be releasing an exclusive ARTFX+ statue of First Apperance Batman for SDCC. Sculpted after the original Bob Kane design of the Bat-Man from Detective Comics #27.
And in a double dose of S.H. Figuarts news, because it seems impossible for me to do a story without mentioning their figures, a repaint and a monster are on the way for DBZ fans. At SDCC a repaint of Vegeta will be available. Sporting his original anime colours before arriving on Earth, Vegeta comes packed with all the same great accessories and interchangeable parts of the original release.
And finally, this winter will see the release of the largest DBZ S.H. Figuarts toy to-date, the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly! Coming in at around 7.5″ tall and loaded with interchangeable parts, and 3 blast effect parts, Broly will be ready to dominate the Z fighters.
The creation of 1989’s Batman wasn’t as easy as you’d think it was. In an interview with fansite 1989Batman.com, the above short’s director Andrew Gillman states that Warner Bros. found itself in a “difficult situation” after taking on the new Batman film.
Warner Brothers had found themselves in a very difficult situation at the time. The marketing director at Warner told me that Adam West had been going to various media outlets stating that he should be Batman, that his Batman was the only true Batman, and that this dark thing that Warner was doing had nothing to do with Batman at all. This caused a problem for Warner Brothers because it created doubts in the minds of the film distributors and merchandisers around the world.
Warner Bros. had to pitch the movie, and the result is what you see. A nice piece of Batman film history to celebrate this film which debuted 25 years ago today.
