The Art of the Brick Coming to NY Comic Con

LEGO Artist Nathan Sawaya at NY Comic Con

Well known, pop culture artist Nathan Sawaya is setting up “The Art of the Brick” at New York Comic Con. Spanning the floor of the Javits Center, Nathan’s life-size LEGO people tell stories, bring emotion and make people smile.

His most iconic sculpture – Yellow – depicts a man with LEGO cascading out of his open chest cavity and will be on public display for the very first time other than in fine art museums.

Other sculptures will be created live for Comic Con attendees. Come see what Nathan will build using only LEGO bricks in Booth #401 near the south entrance.

These posters are fantastic. Dubbed the “Hero and Villain” series, you can purchase these works of art from artist Simon Page has them for sale online. There’s three posters in the series, but here’s the two that are comic related. Depending on the size, the prints run $24.99, $40 or $80 depending on the size.

Erotic Super Heroes

Italian artist Giuseppe Veneziano has taken on super heroes in a display of erotic paintings. Declino Del Supereroe covers such well known heroes as Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Batman, Robin and more in various states and some times depicting other famous works of art.

Not all of the art is erotic, and below is some of our favorites involving Spider-Man that we wouldn’t have to think about having to censor. You can see the entire collection here.

Green Comics – Manga Farming

File this one under different. As posted at PinkTenticle, Tokyo based artist Koshi Kawachi recently demonstrated his “Manga Farming” technique. The artist is using old manga as a growing medium for vegetables. If you’re in Japan you can see the technique at the Matsuzakaya department store in Nagoya where an installation of radish sprouts is on display.
