Though they were some of the highest grossing films of the year Batman and Spider-Man were shut out for nominations at the Academy Awards. But, there’s at least a glimmer of hope for us comic geeks, Marvel’s The Avengers has been nominated for “Visual Effects” with Janek Sirrs, Jeff White, Guy Williams and Dan Sudick listed for the nomination.

Congrats on the nomination everyone involved!

Marvel’s The Avengers ended the year as the third highest grossing movie worldwide ever with a little over $1.5 billion and the highest grossing movie of 2012.
