For the very first time, WOW – Women Of Wrestling will present a special panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. “WOW – Women Of Wrestling – Bringing WOW Superheroes To Life” on Friday, July 26 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM in Room 6DE at the San Diego Convention Center. Join co-owners Jeanie Buss and David McLane, along with WOW Superheroes Coach Campanelli and Genesis, as they discuss the importance of the rise of female representation in professional sports, the influence of comics on pro wrestling and a preview of season three of WOW – Women Of Wrestling. Ahead of the panel, David McLane, Coach Campanelli and Genesis will participate in an autograph signing session from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM in the San Diego Convention Center Room 33C where fans will get an exclusive limited edition WOW poster as part of the signing.

WOW – Women Of Wrestling is the premier all-female sports entertainment property, co-owned and co-founded by trailblazing sports executive Jeanie Buss and David McLane, who is the founder of the original GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Led by the larger-than-life WOW Superheroes and their in-ring rivalries, WOW is an action-packed saga that plays out at high-energy live events and in weekly syndication across the U.S. As the only all-female wrestling organization with a global footprint, WOW showcases supreme athleticism, dramatic and inspiring stories, and is centered 24/7 around empowering and uplifting women and fans around the world. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

About the panelists:

Jeanie Buss (Co-founder and co-owner of WOW – Women Of Wrestling) – Controlling owner and president of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeanie Buss has been named by ESPN as “quite possibly the most powerful women in all of sports.” As a child, comic book characters such as Wonder Woman and Supergirl captivated Jeanie. Today, she is intent on empowering women and engaging fans by introducing them to the World of WOW, a place where women are the stars and fight their own battles. For Jeanie, WOW represents a whole new universe of modern day, real- life superheroes.

David McLane (Co-founder and co-owner of WOW – Women Of Wrestling) – David McLane is no stranger to the wrestling world, having grown up in it since he was 13. While most thought that wrestling should and would remain a boys’ club, David had a vision that women could be the stars of the ring. David’s passion led him to create the very first all-women’s wrestling TV program, GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling). Today, with his partners Jeanie Buss, Paramount Global Content Distribution and the amazing WOW Superheroes, David continues to build a new future for women’s wrestling.

Coach Campanelli (WOW Superhero) – Hailing from San Francisco, Coach Campanelli excelled at every sport she attempted. Softball, soccer, tennis, golf, pickleball, bocce ball, cheese rolling, underwater hockey—you name it, Coach Campanelli played it, and was probably captain of the team! After mastering every sport, she decided to bring her coaching abilities to the WOW Superheroes to teach them how to become true champions. Since arriving at WOW, Coach Campanelli has inserted her wisdom and coaching acumen, whether it was requested or not. With her red, white and green tracksuit freshly pressed, laces tied snuggly, and whistle properly polished, Coach Campanelli brings her unsolicited coaching tips to WOW, with a purpose to win…because that’s what Coach Campanelli does.

Genesis (WOW Superhero) – Hailing from a remote outback town in Australia, Genesis learned how to cut an enemy before she knew how to make a friend. She was often alone, left to fend for herself, with nothing but the dusty red dirt and lonely wind for company. Just as she started to make friends with other children, she was shipped off to boarding school, further isolating her from any love or friendship. To pass the time, Genesis found joy in playing with dangerous toys: mastering the sword and nunchaku. Genesis also turned her body into a weapon: teaching herself karate and kung fu.

Though she was lonesome and forgotten, Genesis never gave up on herself. Eventually, her journey led her to wrestling, where her fighting skills quickly made her a fierce competitor within the squared circle. After finding success as part of the brutal faction of Exile, Genesis fought her way to the top of the group’s pecking order. But like the mother who eats her young, she caused a rift in her group by putting herself first, leading to Exile disbanding forever. Now a feared singles competitor, Genesis no longer seeks family or belonging. Instead, she seeks vengeance for her suffering and a prize that can never betray her – to prove that her years of isolation and training had meaning, by putting her body to the test and winning the WOW World Championship.

SDCC 2023: WOW – Women of Wrestling owner Jeanie Buss and WOW Superheroes Return

WOW – Women Of Wrestling returns to Comic-Con International: San Diego 2023 for an exclusive meet and greet with iconic sports executive and WOW owner Jeanie Buss along with two WOW Superheroes – Kandi Krush and Genesis. Buss, Krush and Genesis will be in attendance for a fan autograph signing on Saturday, July 22 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm PST at the Headlocked Comics booth #1901.

Featuring compelling backstories on its WOW Superheroes and elite athleticism, the current season of WOW – Women Of Wrestling is airing in weekend syndication, on Pluto TV’s Fight Channel and on VICE TV. Owned by Buss and David McLane, the world’s premier all-female sports entertainment property will return this fall for its second season of action distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

About Kandi Krush:

Entering WOW from St. Paul, Minnesota, Kandi Krush is ready to fight her way to the top! Don’t let her name fool you, Kandi Krush may have a sweet name, but in the ring, there’s nothing sweet about her! This boxer now wrestler is as relentless and scrappy as they come.

In her younger years, Krush pushed herself to the limit as she endured grueling training to be an Olympic synchronized swimmer. The abusive coaching and over-training led her to struggle with depression. Krush made the impossible decision to leave the sport she loved because she knew she deserved more, but without synchronized swimming, she felt lost.

Everything changed when boxing found her. Through professional boxing, Krush found her inner fighter again. For years, she climbed through the ranks of a male dominated sport and now, Krush has made her way to WOW to fight for every girl that’s been told they’re not good enough. With the inspiration of her grandmother, Krush believes that anyone can be a superhero—they just have to look for the greatness within.

About Genesis:

For the overlooked. The outcast. The Exiled.

Hailing from a remote outback town in Australia, Genesis grew up fending for herself. She often felt alone, cut off from the rest of the world with nothing but the dusty red dirt and lonely wind for company. Just as she started to make friends with the other children, she was shipped off to boarding school, further isolating her from any love or friendship.

To pass the time she played with dangerous toys: mastering the sword and nunchaku. Genesis also turned her body into a weapon: teaching herself karate and kung fu.

Lonesome and forgotten, Genesis never gave up on herself, and eventually made her way to wrestling, where it seemed like her fighting skills would finally give her a place, a home. Instead, Genesis was exiled again and told she wasn’t worthy. That was when Genesis found herself. This fall with the kick off of a new season of WOW – Women Of Wrestling, Genesis makes her return to WOW stronger and more vicious than ever before with the single minded purpose of becoming the WOW World Champion.

AXS TV ’s WOW – Women Of Wrestling, in conjunction with celebrated comics creator Michael Kingston’s Headlocked Comics, presents a first look at the groundbreaking promotion’s limited edition collectible created exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con. The collectible is available from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, July 20 at the Headlocked Comics Booth (#1901)—the only wrestling-themed comics booth at the convention—while supplies last.

Comic enthusiasts will instantly recognize the piece as a stylish homage to the iconic cover of Uncanny X-Men #387. In place of the legendary mutant squad, Patridge depicts WOW icons Buss, McLane, Blanchard, and The Beast in a series of powerful poses, joined by fellow WOW Superheroes Faith The Lioness and Fire. This marks the second collaboration between Patridge and Kingston, after partnering up on a print of former WWE star Amy “Lita” Dumas for Emerald City Comic Con .

Step into the ring with AXS TV as the Network’s hit original series WOW – Women Of Wrestling slams into San Diego Comic-Con, joining forces with acclaimed comics creator Michael Kingston’s Headlocked Comics for a unique tag-team event on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21. All the action will be going down near the main entrance at booth number 1901 at the only wrestling-themed comics booth at the convention.

Comic-Con attendees can come face-to-face with two of WOW’s most popular Superheroes and meet the people responsible for bringing WOW to life.

The weekend of WOW kicks off on Saturday, July 20 from 1pm to 3pm, with a free signing event where fans can meet WOW and Los Angeles Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss; WOW visionary, commentator, founder, and matchmaker David McLane; and the brutal force of nature The Beast (Twana Ferguson).

Additionally, while supplies last, attendees will be able to collect an all-new WOW limited edition art print featuring Buss with some of WOW’s brightest stars commissioned specially for Comic-Con by Michael Kingston. Then, on Sunday, July 21 from 12pm to 2pm, fans can go toe-to-toe with the WOW Champion herself Tessa Blanchard, and take pictures with her legendary WOW World Championship belt in a free signing event that also includes McLane.

Frustrated by professional wrestling’s lack of representation in comic books and conventions, Kingston created Headlocked Comics in 2007 to tell hard-hitting stories that showcased wrestling as the art form that it is and to provide a positive experience for wrestling fans at comic and pop culture conventions. Boasting an impressive roster of guest collaborators that reads like a Wrestling Hall Of Fame lineup with industry icons such as Ric Flair, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Mick Foley, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kenny Omega, Headlocked Comics is a true celebration of all things wrestling—making it the perfect partner for  WOW’s stunning Comic-Con crossover.

The one-of-a-kind event coincides with WOW – Women Of Wrestling ’s move to a new night and time on Saturday, July 13 at 8pE, launching with an eight-week block re-capping the series’ entire first season—allowing fans to relive unforgettable moments such as Jungle Grrrl, Tessa Blanchard, and Santana Garrett’s three-way Championship brawl, while giving new viewers a chance to catch up on the blockbuster drama and larger-than-life personas that made WOW one of the most-watched same-day series in AXS TV’s history. It all leads up to the Season Two premiere on September 7 at 8pE, when the trailblazing promotion makes its triumphant return with 12 all-new episodes fueled by a stacked show packed with even more championship bouts, bitter feuds, and a single elimination tournament to crown new WOW Tag-Team Champions.

WOW innovator McLane and Steven Dickey will once again provide analysis and commentary, as a slate of new Superheroes and returning superstars vie to pry WOW’s prized crown from reigning champion Tessa Blanchard.
