Zootopia 2 and Fight Nights at Freddy’s 2 Trade Spots at the Weekend Box Office

Zootopia 2 retook the top of the box office after slipping to second place last weekend. It grossed an estimated $26.3 million to bring its domestic gross to just under $259 million. Over the week, it grossed $182.4 million internationally to bring that to $877.7 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $1.137 billion. It’s the second highest grossing film of the year worldwide, though unlikely to take first place which is Ne Zha 2 with $1.902 billion.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 slipped to second place after debuting in first place the previous weekend. The film grossed an estimated $19.5 million, a drop of 69.5%. While that’s on the high side, it’s not surprising for such a niche film. Over the week, it grossed $32.2 million internationally to bring that to $78.3 million for a worldwide gross $173.8 million.

Wicked: For Good held on to third place with $8.6 million to bring its domestic gross to $312.1 million. Over the week, it grossed $12.6 million internationally for $155.8 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed just under $468 million.

Dhurandhar has an amazing jump to fourth place with $3.5 million, a 76.8% increase and LOST 14 theaters over the week, only showing in 377. The movie has grossed $7.9 million domestically and $907,319 internationally for a worldwide total to $8.8 million.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t remained in fifth with an estimated $2.4 million. The movie has grossed $59.3 million domestically. The internationally grossed remained at $154 million with a worldwide total of $213.3 million.

In other comic related movies…

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution grossed $2.1 million domestically to bring that total to $14.5 million. Internationally, it added $4.2 million to bring that gross to $34.4 million for a worldwide gross of $48.9 million.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc grossed a little, about $200,000 to bring its domestic gross to $43.4 million. Internationally, the movie increased $3.3 million to bring that to $110.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $153.6 million.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie – Infinity Castle grossed about $50,000 domestically over the week and now its total is just under $134.4 million. Internationally, the has grossed $529.9 million. Its worldwide gross is just under $664.3 million.

Numbers have 70 movies grossing $76,446,778 from 33,058 theaters for an average of $2,312.51. That compared to last week’s 57 movies grossing $156,246,170 from 30,521 theaters for an average of $5,119.30.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 takes the top of the box office but falls short of the first film

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 won the weekend box office with an estimated $63 million domestically. It also grossed $46.1 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $109.1 million. Five Nights at Freddy’s debuted in 2023 with $80 million and went on to gross $137.3 million domestically and $291.6 million worldwide. The sequel hasn’t matched those numbers, so will be interesting to see how much it has as far as legs and if it can get close to the original’s grosses.

Zootopia 2 slipped to second place in its second weekend dropping 57.1% and grossing an estimated $43 million to bring its domestic total to $220.5 million. Internationally, it grossed $294.9 million over the week to bring that to $695.3 million. With a worldwide total of $915.8 million, there’s little doubt the film will cross $1 billion at the box office worldwide.

Wicked: For Good came in third place with $16.8 million domestically to bring that to just under $297 million. Over the week, it grossed $20.3 million over the week to bring that to $143.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $440.1 million.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution debuted in fourth place where it grossed an estimated $10.2 million domestically. Internationally, it has grossed $30.2 million for a worldwide gross of $40.4 million.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t rounds out the top five with $3.5 million to bring its domestic gross to $55.3 million. Over the week, it grossed $12.7 million internationally to bring that total to $154 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $209.3 million.

Zootopia 2 Tops the Holiday Weekend Box Office

Zootopia 2 was the top film this past weekend grossing an estimated $96.8 million. The movie opened earlier in the week and has grossed $156 million domestically and $400.4 million internationally for $556.4 million worldwide already!

The original Zootopia opened with $75.1 million in 2016 and went on to gross $341.3 million domestically and $1.025 billion worldwide.

Wicked: For Good slipped one spot coming in second place grossing an estimated $62.8 million domestically to bring its total to $270.4 million. Internationally, it grossed $46.8 million over the week to bring that to $122.8 million for $393.3 million worldwide.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t slipped one spot to third place with $7 million to bring its domestic total to $49.7 million. Over the week, it grossed $27.9 million internationally to bring that to $137.3 million. Worldwide, it has grossed just under $187 million.

Predator: Badlands dropped on spot to fourth place with $4.8 million to bring its domestic total to $85 million. Over the week, it grossed $5.4 million internationally to bring that to $88.7 million to lift its overall total gross to $173.7 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Running Man with $3.7 million to bring its domestic total to $34.2 million. Over the week, it grossed $5 million internationally to bring that to $26.3 million for a worldwide total of $60.5 million.

Wicked: For Good was Wickedly Good and Topped the Weekend Box Office

Wicked: For Good was the top film at the weekend box office by a wide margin. The movie grossed an estimated $150 million domestically and $76 million internationally for a debut weekend of $226 million. That improves upon the first film which grossed $112 million domestically its opening weekend and then went on to gross just under $475 million domestically and $758.7 million worldwide. Will the sequel cross the billion dollar mark? It’s possible the film could be frontloaded with fans who saw the first and want to see the second half which could result in a tumble. But, with the holiday weekend coming it should do well though faces a challenge with Zootopia 2 opening this week.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t dipped to second place with an estimated $9.1 million, a 56.6% drop from the opening weekend. It has now grossed $36.8 million domestically in two weeks. It over doubled its internal debut take with $55.2 million over the week to bring its international gross to $109.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $146.2 million.

Predator: Badlands held on to third place with $6.3 million to bring its domestic gross to $76.3 million. Over the week, the film grossed $13.3 million internationally to lift that to $83.3 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $159.6 million.

The Running Man dropped to third place with $5.8 million domestically where it has grossed just $27 million after two weeks. Internationally, the movie added $10.1 million over the week to bring that to $21.3 million and a worldwide gross of $48.3 million.

Rounding out the top five was Rental Family which grossed $3.3 million domestically.
