Vito Delsante, Dean Haspiel, Whitney Matheson, Charlie McElvy, and David Trustman are coming to Baltimore Comic Con

Independent comics creators from New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina will gather at the 25th Anniversary Baltimore Comic-Con, taking place at the Inner Harbor’s Baltimore Convention Center on September 20-22, 2024! The Baltimore Comic-Con has announced guests Vito Delsante, Dean Haspiel, Whitney Matheson, Charlie McElvy, and David Trustman! The convention website has details, ticketing information, and more!

Vito Delsante is a comic book writer/graphic novelist. He’s written for Action Lab Entertainment, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, AdHouse Books, and Simon & Schuster among others, and his stories have been reprinted in other countries. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, Michelle, their daughter, Sadie, son, James, and their new pit bull puppy, Bruno. Find him if you can and say, “Hello.”

Vito will be promoting Kilroy in which Five Vietnam veterans face the consequences of their actions as a secret they thought they buried comes back to haunt them.

Emmy and Ringo Award-winning cartoonist Dean Haspiel is best known for creating Billy Dogma and The Red Hook, collaborating with Harvey Pekar and Jonathan Ames, and illustrating for HBO’s “Bored to Death.” His published work includes writing and drawing for Marvel, DC/Vertigo, Archie, Image, and Webtoon. In addition, Haspiel is an accomplished playwright and Yaddo fellow. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Dean will be promoting The Red Hook x Dean Haspiel, a meta-heroic/speculative memoir.

Whitney Matheson is a New York-based writer best known for creating Pop Candy (1999-2014), USA Today’s award-winning pop-culture blog. She is the author of several children’s books, including We Make Comics (2019), and she co-edited the comics anthology Pandemix: Quarantine Comics in the Age of ‘Rona (2020). Whitney will be promoting Trudy Sellout, a collection of short fiction featuring an actress who rose to fame in the ‘90s attending her first fan convention.

Charlie McElvy is the mastermind behind all things Xion Studios and now the fledgling Blind Squirrel Comics! Charlie has published award-winning role-playing game supplements and comics since 2012. Some of his most popular properties include Spider-Squirrel & Trash Panda, GodQuest featuring Milestone, American Yakuza, and The WatchGuard. He’s also the publisher of Scott Fogg’s Nightcare and Vito Delsante’s Stray comics series.

Charlie will be promoting American Yakuza, an action packed murder-mystery set in Japan.

Writer/artist David Trustman is a TEDx speaker, and Ringo Award-nominated writer and artist behind GodSlap, The Rise, and the best-selling series The Memory Arts. David is debuting Gregor! and The Best Book on Memory series.

David’s Gregor!, painstakingly told in American Sign Language, tells the story of Gregor, the universe’s greatest deaf fighter who ventures to save his long lost girlfriend with aid of his best friend, Bear.

Jeffrey Burandt, Dean Haspiel, Whitney Matheson, and Sean Von Gorman are coming to Baltimore Comic Con

Don’t miss the Baltimore Comic-Con this October 28-30, 2022 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The Baltimore Comic-Con brings Brooklyn to the Inner Harbor with Jeffrey Burandt, Dean Haspiel, Whitney Matheson, and Sean Von Gorman to the 2022 event. Tickets are available online now and can be purchased to avoid waiting in additional lines at the show.

Jeffrey Burandt is best known for writing and co-creating Ghost Planet with artist Sean Von Gorman, Killer Bad with artist Jason Gongour, and Odd Schnozz & The Odd Squad with artist/writer Dennis Culver. Jeffrey lives in Brooklyn, NY.

From 1999-2014 she wrote Pop Candy, USA Today’s award-winning pop-culture blog. Whitney lives in Brooklyn, NY, where she often collaborates with her Nightwork Studio co-founder, Dean Haspiel.

Sean Von Gorman is an NYC-based comics illustrator and writer. He is known for co-creating ToeTag Riot (Black Mask Studios), Secret Adventures of Houdini (Alterna), and Pawn Shop with Joey Esposito (Z2 Comics). He has also contributed art for projects published by Image, Mad Cave, Dark Horse Comics, and Dynamite Entertainment, as well as anthologies such as Occupy Comics (Black Mask) and the Eisner Award-winning Love is Love (DC/IDW). He has also contributed covers to IDW’s Star Trek line of books.

Besides offering a Baltimore Comic-Con Exclusive of The Pedestrian with a Dean Haspiel cover, Sean will also have copies of Ghost Planet, Lower Your Sights, The Last Comic Book on the Left, and Star Trek Picard: Stargazer #3 for sale.

Dean Haspiel and Josh Neufeld Return to Baltimore Comic Con to Celebrate 25 Years of Keyhole Comics

Baltimore Comic-Con takes place October 22-24, 2021 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Tickets to the show are available for purchase now!

Longtime friends and cartoonists Dean Haspiel and Josh Neufeld will celebrate a quarter century of collaborations with a new issue of Keyhole Comics at Baltimore Comic-Con. From minicomics to graphic novels, anthologies, and podcasts, Dean and Josh have been contrasting their sensibilities since their days drawing comics in the Music & Art High School lunchroom. Joining the disparate duo this year is Pandemix co-editor Whitney Matheson, who is debuting Diary Comix 2021, which excerpts highlights from her daily strip. Josh will also be debuting the 10th-anniversary edition of The Influencing Machine, his comics collaboration with journalist Brooke Gladstone. The New York Times bestseller has been updated for the (post-)Trump era and features a new afterword.

Dean Haspiel

Emmy Award-winning cartoonist Dean Haspiel is best known for creating Billy Dogma and The Red Hook, collaborating with Harvey Pekar, and Jonathan Ames, and illustrating for HBO’s Bored to Death. His published work includes writing and drawing for Marvel, DC, Archie, Image Comics, and Webtoon. In addition, Haspiel is an accomplished playwright and Yaddo fellow. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Josh Neufeld

Josh Neufeld is a cartoonist known for his nonfiction narratives of political and social upheaval, told through the voices of witnesses. He is the writer/artist of the nonfiction graphic novels A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge and A Few Perfect Hours. His other works include The Influencing Machine, The Vagabonds, Keyhole, and numerous nonfiction comics for various news outlets. Neufeld has been a Knight-Wallace Fellow in journalism, an Atlantic Center for the Arts Master Artist, and a Xeric Award winner. He lives in Brooklyn, New York, where he makes — and teaches — comics, including at the School of Visual Arts.

Whitney Matheson

Whitney Matheson is a New York-based writer best known for creating Pop Candy, USA Today’s award-winning pop-culture blog (1999-2014). She is the author of several children’s books, including We Make Comics; and co-editor of the Ringo Award-nominated anthology PANDEMIX. Whitney’s work has appeared in publications including Playboy, Slate, and The Hollywood Reporter, and she has appeared on VH1, BBC America, Turner Classic Movies, and other networks.
