Graphic Policy’s Top Comic Picks this Week!

Cobra Commander #2

Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are new comic book day! Each week hundreds of comics are released, and that can be pretty daunting to go over and choose what to buy. That’s where we come in

Each week our contributors choose what they can’t wait to read this week or just sounds interesting. In other words, this is what we’re looking forward to and think you should be taking a look at!

Find out what folks think below, and what comics you should be looking out for this week.

Animal Pound #2 (BOOM! Studios) – The first issue was an interesting update to Orwell’s classic and we’re intrigued where this goes and how it might differ.

Blasfamous #1 (DSTLRY) – We’re intrigued to see what this new horror comedy from Mirka Andolfo and DSTLRY is like.

Blitmap #3 (Titan Comics) – We’re here for the unique covers but the story concept and the fact anyone can riff on it is something to watch.

Cemetery Kids Don’t Die #1 (Oni Press) – A kid’s consciousness is locked in a horror game and his friends attempt to rescue them.

Cobra Commander #2 (Skybound) – The first issue was an amazing mix of old and new building off of the mythoes that came before in new ways. Add in the connection to the Transformers world and this is a series that has deserved buzz.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #304 (Skybound) – Great action and solid art. It’s G.I. Joe dialed up to 11.

Invasive #3 (Oni Press) – Super creepy body horror that’ll make your skin crawl.

Not Sew Wicked Stepmom Vol. 3 (Yen Press) – A great new spin on the classic Snow White.

The Six Fingers #1 (Image Comics) – The companion series to The Red Hand that we all loved. This one focuses on the killer?

Taking Care of God (Yen Press) – Days after reading this manga, we’re still contemplating its deeper meaning.

Ultimate Spider-Man #2 (Marvel) – The first issue was the shot in the arm the new Ultimate Universe needed and cemented this series as one to watch.

The Six Fingers by Dan Watters and Sumit Kumar gets a trailer

The Six Fingers #1 is in stores February 21, and you can pre-order from your Local Comic Shop!

Neo Novena archaeology student JOHANNES VALE has always been so very in control of his life. But when he commits a brutal murder using the M.O. of a historic and notorious serial killer, everything begins to spiral out of control…primarily as Johannes doesn’t remember doing it.

What follows is a deadly cat-and-mouse game as Johannes seeks refuge in the rain-soaked streets of Neo Novena. He will stop at nothing to unravel the secrets and ciphers of what he did and why he did it; but each revelation only leads further into the dark heart of his future-metropolis and Johannes’ own heartbroken soul.

Grippingly written by writer Dan Watters with hauntingly atmospheric art and covers by Sumit Kumar and Lee Loughridge, The Six Fingers is a miniseries that will keep you on the edge until the very end.

Ram V and Dan Watters launch The One Hand and The Six Fingers in February 2024 from Image

First teased at New York Comic Con earlier this month, two new series from White Noise Studio members Ram V and Dan Watters will each launch new five-issue Crime drama miniseries in February 2024 from Image Comics.

First, The One Hand teams Ram V with artist Laurence Campbell and colorist Lee Loughridge in an unrelenting procedural that will have readers guessing until the very end.

Neo Novena detective, Ari Nasser is about to retire with an enviable record, until a brutal murder occurs, bearing all the hallmarks of the “One Hand Killer” …which should be impossible since Ari already put him away not once but twice in the years before.

What follows is a deadly cat-and-mouse game as Ari pursues his quarry down the rain-soaked streets of Neo Novena. Ari will stop at nothing to unravel the secrets and ciphers of this case, but each revelation only leads further into the dark heart of his future-metropolis and Ari’s own beleaguered soul.

Next, The Six Fingers will showcase Dan Watters paired with artist Sumit Kumar and Loughridge coloring, in an equally confounding mystery that will have readers on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds.
