Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was the top of the weekend box office setting a record for the largest opening for a concert film. The movie grossed an estimated $96 million domestically and $32 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $128 million. It’ll be interesting to see how well the film does over time, but it’s another film headlined by a woman who has saved this year’s box office.

The Exorcist: Believer tumbled to second place as expected dropping 58.5% from the previous weekend. The movied grossed an estimated $11 million to bring its domestic total to $44.9 million. Over the week, it added $22.1 million to its international total to bring it a little over $40 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $85 million.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie added $7 million to its domestic total which is now $49.9 million. Internationally, the film has grossed $76.5 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $126.4 million.

Saw X added $5.7 million to its domestic total to bring that $41.4 million. After no change last week, the international total ha now increased to $29.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $71.3 million.

The Creator rounded out the top five with an estimated $4.3 million to bring its domestic total to $32.4 million. Internationally, the film added $9.8 million to its total to bring that to $46.7 million. Worldwide, the film stands at $79.1 million.

In comic film news…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem grossed $224,000 domestically bringing its total to $118.4 million. Internationally, the movie added $800,000 where it has now grossed $61.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has brought in $180.3 million.

Blue Beetle domestically added about $700,000 to its total over the week to bring that to $71.9 million. Internationally it remained steady at $56.8 million. The movie has grossed $128.7 million worldwide.

Shortcomings, based on the graphic novel by Adrian Tomine grossed about $9,000 over the week domestically to bring its total to $675,257. There’s now some international gross reported of $10,227, an increase of about $300. Worldwide, the film has grossed $685,484.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse looks like it remained steady domestically at $381.3 million. Internationally, the film was steady at $308.7 million. Worldwide, the move has grossed $690 million.

The week’s overall box office success…

Numbers have 59 films earning $132,503,573 from 34,388 theaters. That’s about a 50% increase from last weekend’s $72,557,841 from 35,159 theaters and 59 films. The average earning was $3,853.19 this past weekend, about double the previous weekend’s $2,063.71.

The weekend results are in and it’s not too surprising in that The Exorcist: Believer took the top spot for the weekend. With pretty brutal reviews, the film took first with an estimated $27.2 million domestically and $17.9 million internationally. That delivered an opening weekend of $45.1 million worldwide. The critics and audiences have eviscerated the film so expect it to drop hard but with Halloween coming, the film may hang on a bit just due to the season.

And that means that PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie dropped to second place with an estimated $11.8 million to bring its domestic total to $38.9 million. Current reporting has the film adding about $23.8 million to its international total for the week. Around the world the film ahs grossed $87.1 million after two weeks. But, will the film keep it up with more family films coming?

Saw X dropped to third with an estimated $8.2 million to bring its domestic total to $32.6 million. The international total of $11.3 million remains unchanged from the previous week. It now has grossed at least $43.9 million worldwide.

The Creator slipped one spot to fourth with $6.1 million to bring its domestic total to $24.9 million after two weeks. Its international total over doubled with $18.6 million more over the week to bring that to $36.9 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $61.8 million.

Wrapping up the top five was The Blind which added just under $4 million to its total to bring its domestic gross to $10.5 million.

Blue Beetle domestically added about $250,000 to its total over the week to bring that to $71.2 million. Internationally it added $1 million to the gross bringing that to $56.8 million. The movie has grossed $128 million worldwide.

Shortcomings, based on the graphic novel by Adrian Tomine grossed about $2,000 over the week domestically to bring its total to $674,337. There’s now some international gross reported of $9,900, an increase of about $616. Worldwide, the film has grossed $684,237.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse looks like it remained steady domestically at $381.3 million. Internationally, the film increased about $80,000 and is now at $308.7 million. Worldwide, the move has grossed $690 million.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie takes the weekend box office as the top five is packed with new films

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Force was the top film at the weekend box office debuting with $23 million at the domestic box office. The film grossed a similar amount internationally with $24.4 million with a worldwide total of $47.4 million.

Saw X came in second with $18 million domestically and $11.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $29.3 million worldwide. That domestic opening was similar to the first film, better than Saw VI‘s $14.1 million, 2017’s Jigsaw‘s $16.6 million, and Spiral’s $8.8 million in 2021. So, while the amount seem low, it’s actually pretty on par with the franchise’s opening and would likely point to a similar $100 million gross by the time it’s over.

The Creator opened in third with $14 million domestically and $18.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $32.3 million. With a reported budget of $80 million, Disney has to be disappointed with the result and it’s a number fumble for the formal giant.

The Nun II tumbled from first place to fourth with an estimated gross with $4.7 million to bring its domestic total to $76.8 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $19.4 million internationally to bring that to $154.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $231.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Blind which debuted with just under $5 million domestically. No international total was reported.
