The Scorched #50, the Climax of the Spawn Universe 50/50/50 Program, arrives March 2026

Todd McFarlane Productions concludes the Spawn Universe’s latest milestone celebration with The Scorched #50, the third and final installment in the 50/50/50 Program—a coordinated event marking the 50th issues of King Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, and The Scorched.

Launched in 2021, the Spawn Universe expanded with record-setting debuts and ongoing fan demand. Now, that success comes full circle as the 50/50/50 storyline reaches its explosive conclusion in The Scorched #50—an extra-length issue delivering the final two chapters of the crossover that began in King Spawn #50 and continued in Gunslinger Spawn #50.The battle rages to its breaking point, and the long-awaited reveal will have Spawn fans talking for years to come. When the dust settles, The Scorched #50 will leave the Spawn Universe forever changed. 

As with the previous issue #50 titles, interior artwork is by Carlo Barberi and Stephen Segovia, ensuring visual consistency across all three milestone books.

In step with the series’ counterparts, The Scorched #50 arrives with a premium slate of variants and incentives that mirror King Spawn #50 and Gunslinger Spawn #50, creating one unified collector experience across the program. Artwork comes from Todd McFarlane, Skottie Young, Mark Spears, and Puppeteer Lee, with both Young and Lee delivering connecting cover sets that span all three 50th issues. 

At the top of the incentive tier is Cover H, a 1:1000 Raw Pencil Virgin Variant by Todd McFarlane that includes a guaranteed hand-drawn Spawn sketch inserted directly into the book. Fifty of these sketches will be drawn by McFarlane. After those 50 orders are fulfilled, remaining sketches will be randomly assigned from Jonathan Glapion, Carlo Barberi, Brett Booth, Stephen Segovia, and Jason Shawn Alexander. (Sketch artist selection is random and cannot be requested; ordering early does not guarantee a McFarlane sketch.)

Each copy of Cover H will also be signed by Todd McFarlane and include a CGC Certificate verifying that both the signature and the inserted sketch are eligible for CGC’s Signature Series program, as well as confirming sketch authenticity. McFarlane has committed to never signing this cover again, making these copies strictly limited to this one-time release. The 1:250 incentive (Cover G) is likewise signed by McFarlane, includes a CGC Certificate, and will not be signed again. 

To coincide with the conclusion of the 50/50/50 Program, CGC is hosting an exclusive Private Signing event with Todd McFarlane. Collectors have until November 14, 2025 (international) and December 1, 2025 (U.S.) to submit comics and cards for this signing. For this event, McFarlane will sign each collectible with his full “Todd McFarlane” signature, and fans can select from two event-exclusive CGC custom label options—a Todd McFarlane Spawn Universe label and an all-new McFarlane scroll label created by McFarlane specifically for this signing. Todd McFarlane Productions continues its celebration of the expanded Spawn Universe with Gunslinger Spawn #50, the second milestone in the 50/50/50 Program—a yearlong crossover event marking the 50th issues of King Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, and The Scorched.

This extra-length issue of Gunslinger Spawn delivers part two of an exciting new storyline set to unfold across all three titles, beginning with King Spawn #50 and concluding in The Scorched #50. An ancient force—older than time itself—has returned, and Spawn is in its crosshairs. The tale continues here in two chapters illustrated by Spawn Universe fan-favorites Stephen Segovia and Carlo Barberi, just like King Spawn #50, revealing earth-shattering consequences for Gunslinger and the future of the Spawn mythos.

To mark the milestone, Gunslinger Spawn #50 will debut with a premium lineup of variant covers and incentives that mirror those of King Spawn #50 and the upcoming Scorched #50, uniting all three titles in the 50/50/50 Program. The cover lineup features artwork by Todd McFarlane, Skottie Young, Mark Spears, and Puppeteer Lee—with both Young and Lee delivering connecting cover sets that span all three issues.

King Spawn #50 Debuts a Massive Variant Lineup and 50/50/50 Program

Todd McFarlane Productions and Image Comics will celebrate the next major milestone in the Spawn Universe with the release of King Spawn #50—an extra-length anniversary issue launching an exciting new storyline and the official kickoff of the “50/50/50 Program” this October.

The 50/50/50 Program will span the three core Spawn Universe titles—King Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, and The Scorched—as each series reaches its 50th issue over the coming year. All three issues will feature a matching lineup of variants and incentives from some of the most exciting artists in comics, creating one unified program across the Spawn Universe.

Just over four years ago, the debut of King Spawn #1 set new records as the highest-selling superhero monthly comic book series launch of the 21st Century. Now, this special release sets the stage for a crossover event that will unfold across all three landmark issues, as a primordial force returns to target Spawn and forever change one of its core characters.

The story will be told with two chapters per issue, brought to life by Spawn Universe artists Carlo Barberi and Stephen Segovia.

In celebration of this milestone, King Spawn #50 will debut with an expansive lineup of covers with artwork from McFarlane himself, Skottie Young, Mark Spears, and Puppeteer Lee—with Lee contributing a connecting cover set across King Spawn #50, Gunslinger Spawn #50, and The Scorched #50.

It will also boast a lineup of high-tier incentive variants, including a 1:50 cover by Mark Spears and multiple premium editions by McFarlane himself, culminating in the 1:1000 Raw Pencil Virgin Variant.

Each copy of this 1:1,000 variant will contain a one-of-one original sketch, inserted directly into the issue. The first 50 sketches will be drawn by McFarlane. If more than 50 copies are ordered of the 1:1,000, additional sketches will be provided by Spawn Universe artists Jonathan Glapion, Carlo Barberi, Brett Booth, Stephen Segovia, and Jason Shawn Alexander. Every copy of the 1:1000 is guaranteed to contain an original sketch but sketches other than McFarlane’s will be distributed at random.

Additionally, two of the premium incentive editions—Cover G (1:250) and Cover H (1:1000)—will be signed by Todd McFarlane and will never be signed again. McFarlane has confirmed that these books will be strictly limited to this single wave of signed copies, ensuring their long-term value for collectors and retailers.

McFarlane and CGC will also team up for a special collaboration tied to the 50/50/50 Program. More details will be announced in the months ahead, including a private signing and exclusive collectibles tied to all three milestone issues.

Muth, Joe Quinones, Sylvain Repos, Darick Robertson, Marco Rudy, Zoe Thorogood, and Federico Vicentini along with returning guests Mirka Andolfo, Mahmud Asrar, Simone Bianchi, Pierangelo Boog, Mark Brooks, Elena Casagrande, Carla Cohen, Giorgio Comolo, Jeff Dekal, Gabriele Dell’Otto, Riccardo Federici, Adi Granov, Jock, David Mack, Alex Maleev, Enrico Marini, Lucio Parillo, Mark Raats, Humberto Ramos, Liam Sharp, Martin Simmonds, Pepe Valencia, and Olivier Vatine.

Spawn #350 sees a new ruler, new artist, and new direction!

February 21, 2024 marks yet another milestone for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn comic. Not only will Spawn #350 break ANOTHER Guinness World Record, but Spawn #350 will crown a NEW RULER to sit on the Throne of Hell, which has been EMPTY since issue #100. Spawn himself is also getting an overhaul with a NEW costume. As an added bonus for fans, this 40-page, extra-length issue will be priced at a low $4.99.

Spawn #350 will feature six extraordinary covers with artwork from some of the most talented artists in the comic book industry. McFarlane, Brett Booth, Ryan Stegman, Puppeteer Lee, and Jonathan Glapion all create unique cover art for this momentous issue.

The Scorched #1 Sells Over 270,000 Copies

Todd McFarlane’s Spawn franchise made history in 2021 with the BEST YEAR OF SPAWN EVER, breaking several long-held comic industry records. The newest record includes massive sales for his newest monthly title, The Scorched #1. Sales for the book made it the “Biggest New Team Book” from the past 30 years (including a new relaunch of Marvel’s X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy), with more than 270,000 copies sold. This is the fourth, major record-setting 2021 new title for McFarlane, all records have been set in under six months, and this marks the most records ever broken by a comic franchise in a six-month period.

Kicking off the reign of records, McFarlane’s Spawn’s Universe #1 became Image Comics’ top-selling first issue of the 21st century. The sales of King Spawn #1 demolished The Avengers record, becoming the comic industry’s highest ordered monthly superhero launch of the 21st century. Gunslinger Spawn #1 was the biggest launch of a new superhero monthly title in the comic industry of the past 25 years. Gunslinger Spawn #1’s total sales are more significant than Marvel’s Spider-Gwen launch in 2015, and there hasn’t been another new character comic close to that number in the 20 years prior to its release.

Following suit with the record-breaking 2021 titles, Spawn’s Universe #1, King Spawn #1, Gunslinger Spawn #1, and now The Scorched #1 has become one of the top selling Image Comics books in the 21st century.

The Scorched #1 is the first all-new monthly issue of McFarlane’s superhero team book by writer Sean Lewis and artists Stephen Segovia and Paulo Sequeria. After 30 years of the longest-running monthly comic title Spawn, The Scorched gathers the best characters for three decades and puts them together into one title. The stunning covers for The Scorched #1 are created by superstar artists Ryan Stegman, Puppeteer Lee, Brett Booth, Greg Capullo, Don Aguillo, fellow Image founder Marc Silvestri, and McFarlane. Booth’s cover of The Scorched #1 interconnects with King Spawn #1 and Gunslinger Spawn #1 to form one epic work of art.

The Scorched #1 will include forty-eight pages of full-color with a premium 8 pt. cover stock showcasing the top talents in the industry for this inaugural launch.

The Scorched #1 will have a 1:250 copy incentive cover which McFarlane will hand-sign and create a unique sequential number for each issue (based on the Final Order Cutoff total). Each signed copy of The Scorched #1 1:250 includes a CGC Certificate of Authenticity that retailers can send in and redeem through CGC to have their books graded. This is the only time McFarlane will sign The Scorched #1 1:250 copy incentive cover.

Additionally, The Scorched #1 will have a 1:50 copy incentive variant cover by Capullo.

For every 250 copies of The Scorched #1 issues ordered, retailers will become eligible to order five incentive covers of The Scorched #1 by Capullo and one The Scorched #1 McFarlane incentive cover.
